Without a Paddle just keeps going up. I've been holding my 50,000 shorted since Sunday, and every day, I end up losing more money on it. Up to $46.41 now, and I've lost about $350,000 on it since shorting it after the adjust.

Of course most things go down during that time

Much as I liked the movie, I couldn't have predicted such wild numbers for HERO. Too bad I didn't put any money on it.
Looks like I won't be making much on ANAC2, BABY2 or SZERO to significantly affect my port.

I am glad I stayed away from this weekend since I would have lost a bunch on them also. I thought ANAC2 was long and HERO was short.

I'll agree Without a Paddle is performing impressively at the box office, but is it ever killing my portfolio. I shorted at $40 and it's almost up to $50 now! If I hadn't lost $500,000 at this point, I'd just cut my losses.

nice. that is a nice amount gained for my troubles. I'm at 25k in the black on it with the weekend bleed and I doubt it will go up much with the news of this weekends crappy take.

If you figure on a 76 delist for it, it is still a ROI of 1.5. More if you factor in that it'll probably be around its price next Friday to free up buying room for the new release plays. Easy pickup if you have 4 mil to spare.

Hey Groucho, howzabout a new thread?
Well, as much as I hate to admit it, WOPAD did better than I expected this weekend - as someone said, there's not much in the way of mindless comedies right now.
Still, I'm having a hard time imagining that it will hit even $45 at delist.
HERO on the other hand I think is interesting - is it going to have the legs that Crouching Tiger did?
Also, I just read that HFLYD is opening this December which makes it a good buy at the current price.
Still, I'm having a hard time imagining that it will hit even $45 at delist.

It made $14,328,054 the first full week. It will have two more full weeks till delist. It will lose theaters. Assuming the drop of 35% is the highest it will have you get.
$9,313,251 the next full week and $6,053,602 the last week.
Estimated delist with this 35% dropoff is $43,221,853.
Of course it could have a smaller or larger dropoff over the next two weeks. It also might not lose theaters although I think that is not very likely.

decent 400k payout on the calls. I didn't even lose any cash on ANAC2 cause I bought it so low. so I still walked out of that one making some cash.
I think both will have a good short tonight. Word of mouth is not all that great for HERO so I can see that going down some.

A thought on the future of Dvdtalk HSX.
I wonder if we should not start either new ports or reset them for those who want to at the start of the new season.
This way everyone feels they have a fresh start and a better chance at the top spot.
It would also be nice because we would all be trying to win the STD at HSX. I do think it will keep the game fresh since winning it one season would mean nothing during another season.
Thoughts?

What do you think about restarting?
We can call it HSX Reloaded

I joined three months late, and still managed to break the top ten because I worked hard at the game. Others can do the same if they are committed.
Keep it rollin...

The activity in this thread has been slow, so I haven't put the leaderboard up as often. I'll update it soon.
If anybody wants to reset their accounts, they're welcome to do so. But considering that the STD is based on percentage, you should be able to play for that regardless of the size of your portfolio.
