Shangahi Knights - as good as the first one was this was a lot funnier
Count me as a person who really liked Bad Boys but didn't care for the sequel. BB2 was too . . . everything. Except good. I'm sure if it was a little less loud and they trimmed 30 minutes from it it'd be better, but all I know is that the first one was a fun little movie that seemed credible in the universe while the second one was basically a giant cartoon/video game cranked to 11. Eeesh.

Red Dragon (prequel to "Silence of the Lambs")
I know it was made mainly to have Anthony Hopkins reprise the Hannibal Lecter role one more time, but I think the resulting movie actually turned out quite well (which was very surprising, given that Brett Ratner directed it). As a fan of the original "Red Dragon" novel, I was always disappointed in the previous version, Manhunter, which had a great performance by William Petersen but threw out far too much of the book (IMO). The new version was a lot more faithful to the original novel and, I think, a better movie overall for that. Although not as good as Silence of the Lambs, I think Red Dragon is a worthy prequel (and a heck of a lot better than Hannibal).

Agreed. I believe in a world where both MANHUNTER and DRAGON can be loved equally.

Nightmare 3 & 4 were both really good - I think 4 is more 'underrated' though. It has better effects and the direction seems to be better. Too bad about losing Patricia Arquette for #4 - Tuesday Knight just didn't cut it in #4 playing Kristen.
I think these are some underrated sequels (agreeing with some listed before, and adding a couple new titles): Star Trek III, Star Trek Insurrection, Rocky 2 & 3, Gremlins 2, Vegas Vacation, Jurassic Park 2 & 3, Back to the Future 2 (AND 3 - I like BTTF 3 better than 2), Die Hard 2 & 3, Predator 2, The Enforcer, Sudden Impact, Magnum Force, Any Which Way You Can, Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.

Just saw Jeepers Creepers 2. I thought it was great and Roger Ebert is an idiot for saying otherwise.
I posted this in the Jeepers Creepers 2 discussion thread:

Sorry I'm so late joining this discussion. I just bought JC1 and 2 used. I had seen JC1 this way: the DVD was incompatible with my Sony DVD player when it came out so I had to rent the VHS copy which only came in pan and scan and which I spread out over my widescreen TV, which means I only saw a fraction of the screen. Despite all of this, and the fact that the picture is particularly murky, I really liked JC1. I thought it was stylish and original. Just the fact that the characters didn't get slashed just for having sex with each other or just after having sex with each other, which has been the rule of the genre since at least Halloween, deserved a special Oscar.
It was a joy seeing JC1 on DVD (I have a new Denon player) and, especially JC2. The photography, the editing and the music are just as stylish as the first film, if not more so (I especially liked the use of "real" widescreen as opposed to cropped 35 mm).
The characters were anything but clichéed. I really appreciated the originality and poetic justice of making racists and homophobes the most despicable, expandable people on the bus. I also liked the fact the footbal team was composed of typical body-proud airheads who like nothing more than comparing penis size at every turn. Now, that's fresh and I don't think it's ever been done. If it takes a convicted pedophile to bring this truth to the screen, than more power to him.
The film also had great poetic imagination and pacing and I liked the way the action set pieces were interspersed between quieter, suspenseful or simply surreal moments. The film feels like a bad dream and that's what I expect from a horror flick. This is the kind of film Alfred Hitchcock would at least enjoy if he were alive today (although he would never admit it).
