I usually checked 777film but since they changed their layout, I can't see a nice listing of ALL movies playing. :( I'll totally go with. FYI...i found out about this one from the Village Voice. They had a 1/4 page ad in last weeks paper. I called immediately and reserved my tix. I checked BAM's website (bam.org) They are playing: July 4: Four With Pacino Panic In Needle Park (1971) 110min Thu, July 1 at 4:30, 9:30pm July 4th: Four With Pacino Dog Day Afternoon (1975) 130min Fri, July 2 at 3, 6, 9pm July 4th: Four With Pacino Cruising (1980) 106min Sat, July 3 at 2, 4:30, 6:45, 9pm July 4th: Four With Pacino Scarface (1983) 170min Sun, July 4 at 4, 8pm Mon, July 5 at 4, 8pm i'll probably make the cruising show on saturday since i can't make it sunday being july 4th and all and I have plans. |
Cruising was actually the one I was going to go to since I've never seen it. Let me know and you can say hi! :)

It's playing right down the street from me at a newly renovated "old time" theater. I would love to go see it there!

re: JAWS re-release
Eleven years later and there's a rerelease. Did anyone catch the 40th anniversary showing yesterday?
http://www.fathomevents.com/event/jaws-second-showing I'm planning on checking it out on Wednesday and am really pumped for it. This is one of my all-time favorite movies - summer hasn't officially started for me until I watch it (and also listen to Pet Sounds) - but I've never caught it on the big screen. (The cherry on top is that it'll be free for me, since I've got movie cash from that MCR promotion over in the Hot Deals thread.) |

re: JAWS re-release
A buddy went to a showing in Bellevue WA. He said it was packed and I was shocked. He was also telling me about the other similar showings he plans to go to in the future at the same theater. Spaceballs was one of them!
In this age of movies being easily available any number of ways I guess I don't get the point of these screenings. Especially at the price. Back before home video, yeah. But not in the home theater era. |
re: JAWS re-release
Huh. Thanks for the heads up, guys. I'll get there a little earlier. Though I imagine a Sunday matinee would draw more than a midweek showing.
The only Fathom Events stuff I ever go to are the Rifftrax shows - been to every single one! - and while those are never before seen live events, the crowd varies from a smattering of folks to maybe a 3/4 full theater. But I did go to a double feature of The Goonies and Ferris Bueller's Day Off at the drive in last year and it was packed. Despite the widespread availability, it's fun to see these old movies on the big screen with a bunch of people into it. |
re: JAWS re-release
I'd like a description of the introduction... if you please.

re: JAWS re-release
I'm taking my 11 year old daughter to see it Wednesday. She's never seen it before, and after the CGI fests of Avengers, Jurassic Parkworld, and so many others, I'm excited to show her some summer fare that I grew up with.

re: JAWS re-release
I'd like to go see this on Wednesday, but my local theater wants $12.50 per ticket. -eek-

re: JAWS re-release
I guess if you want to see it on the big screen, here's your chance so just pay the $12.50 or just always enjoy it on a tv.
|
re: JAWS re-release
I'd love to go see it tomorrow night but alas, I have Weird Al tickets instead.

re: JAWS re-release
How are these Fathom events now? Are they using higher res projectors than they were a few years back, when people would routinely complain about seeing the screendoor/pixel structure?
Are the films 2k or 4K? |

Are the films 2k or 4K? Q: Will this be the restored 4K print screened? How will this film be projected? Fathom: Our Jaws event will include the complete restoration of the feature and will be distributed to the theaters via digital hard drive. |
re: JAWS re-release
The digital hard drive sounds better than satellite transmission, but people shouldn't be seeing aliasing artifacts (jaggies) for the price of the tickets these days.
Great film to see with an audience- but I'm going to celebrate the anniversary by staying home and making a larger screen for my HT. |
re: JAWS re-release
To people who saw this: Did the audience still scream out when Brody was chumming the water?
|
People screamed when the head came out of the boat.

Enter 6 black caps on the site listed above. Make sure when you select what product it came from you choose Minute Maid juice. It will not work if you choose any other product. Once you have entered 6 look at the notification box in the top right corner. Click on it and it should tell you that you have earned a free movie ticket. You can earn up to 5 tickets per account. The promotion is through Hollywood Movie Money and valued up to $13 per ticket. Some are saying on the MCR thread that some of the newer cap codes do not give you the option of what product to choose and it comes up automatically as Coke Zero(or whatever product I assume). Promotion is supposed to be good through 6/30, but I would not wait that long to try for the tickets. edit: Also forgot to add that you do not receive points when entering these codes. So you have to decide which more important, the 3 points or the tickets. |
re: JAWS re-release
I'm always surprised at how many people have never seen JAWS when attending its revival screenings.
|
re: JAWS re-release
I saw a trailer for this the other day before Jurassic World and it looked pretty horrendous. I hope that the movie itself is projected with a better picture.
