Drop, I don't know about you, but I almost never go to the movies to see just one film. I'll almost always buy tickets for two or more movies. I've seen as many as four movies in the theater in one day. So I have no problem watching Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2 back to back or as one uncut film. There are longer films around than that, and I've watched those all the way through, so why not this one?
Another reason I could watch them both back to back is that neither films feels as long as it is, and I would gladly watch it if it each film were three hours, because they're both that good. And since we know it was meant to be one film, but got cut in half, and Tarantino is planning to recut it back together as one film, why can't I look at it as one film?

You know I agree with that. For some reason, both KBv1 and KBv2 seemed far, far shorter than their stated run times - That includes the oddly entertaining credit sequences to KBv2.

Suprmallet, I do the 4 movies at a theatre fairly frequently myself, but we are not average people (we're better right?
). It's different than home viewing though. I have too many distractions at home; have to take out the grabage, I get a phone call, etc.. When I watch a movie I have to be completely devoted to it, I don't do anything else, not even stuff my face with any kind of food, beverages included. I can't stand having the world broken. At home I rarely get a chance to do this. I imagine most people don't either.
You can view it as one film, sure, but the fact is they aren't, not in their current state. I imagine when he cuts them together (side question - were they ever cut as one long movie?) the pacing will be different, and scenes will be at different spots. Both films work as singles in a series.
So with that logic I think the average person will chose to watch one at a time. I have come to the conclusion they will watch 2 more. That is all I'm saying.
Movies can be watched how ever they entertain you, they were made for us to enjoy after all. Do what ya want, kiddo, it's your time.

Finally got to see the film. Excellent but totally different from Vol 1. The opening scene in the chapel is great, with that overpowering sense of dread, because we know that something very bad is going to happen there. The chapter with the Bride's training with Pei Mei was wonderful, it looked just like one of those old HK films from the 70's and Gordon was great.
The other great things about the film were:
-the acting. Everyone gives an excellent performance, especially David Carradine. He is just so...cool in this film. I can't imagine anyone else playing the part (Warren Beatty? no way!). Daryl Hannah and Uma also are terrific in this.
-Elle and the Bride's fight in the trailer. Just...wow!
-the way that the film filled in a lot of the details for many of the characters. If one only saw the first film, they could accuse QT of creating these cardboard characters who seem more like characatures rather than real people, but the second film gives some of these characters heart and soul. (this doesn't mean that the film and characters are completely realistic though, but hey, its a Tarantino film, thats OK)
-the little details that film geeks love (eg. Shogun Assassin, Sid Haig's cameo as a bartender, etc)
I think its been said by others, but the only scene that I thought was completely extraneous was the big talk between Budd and his boss.
Anyway, I've said enough (or maybe too much). I can't wait to see it again.

Chapter 1: (2)
Chapter 5:Showdown at the House of Blue Leaves
Chapter 7:The Lonely grave of Paula Schultz
We see The Bride steamroll through everyone through chapters 1 & 4. (And we still aren't aware who the Vipers are) But along comes chapter 7 which shows some poor, lonely pathetic guy getting yelled at by his boss. Which sets the standard that The Bride (If he's on the death list) should have no problem whatsoever taking this guy out. But once the chapter ends. We are proven wrong.
Catch my drift?

Well thats true, and now that I think about it, the scene just makes him look like a pathetic guy who has hit rock bottom, so after that, him (temporarily) taking care of the Bride would be a surprise. Hmmm, I still have to digest this film more.

I agree. Not too many directors would have the balls to show a pitch black screen for that long. Very effective.
(things you notice watching the film three times...)
Can anyone explain to me why QT felt the need to bleep out Beatrix's name right up till the last half of this movie? If it's just for the 'Kiddo' reference, that's kinda lame, no?
we know ONE of them knows that 5-point killer thingie but we don't know which one. Either of them could die

I loved the movie, especially Bill's speech about Superman, though as a Superman fan, I don't agree with his conclusion about Superman's view of humanity. But that's just the nerd in me talking.
Can anyone name songs used in the movie that weren't on the soundtrack? I know Vol. 1 had a few.

also, prob. when the movie gets rereleased next year (or late this year) for the uncut 4 hour version, the split point between vol 1 and 2 will have an intermission card and the end credit music from vol 1.
jack for her "passport on vol 1" thing for figuring out her name, i guess thats a pause or you miss it, since ive watched the dvd twice and can't see it.

I absolutely loved it! Uma Thurman gives such a wonderful physical and emotional performance particularly in the Pai Mei training sequence which was one of the most entertaining scenes of either film, and the last chapter Face to Face scene with Bill and finding about her daughter.
This film is even greater than Vol. 1 and really deepens the characters, and I loved a lot of the dialogue especially Caradine who was terrific and I agree with those who say he should get an academy award nom. I also think Thurman should not be overlooked for her performance.
It is a slower paced film compared to Vol. 1, but that isn't a bad thing it is actually great thing. Vol. 2 really made me appreicate the whole story more and it solved the story and ended the film in a entertaining, tense and dare I say it almost sweet way, that I loved very much, I know it's needless to say but I just have to, QT is such a great writer and I thought he really showed at the end.
As others have mentioned, The Bride vs. Elle Driver was the mother of all cat fights, and Hannah was excellent in her villainy and when you find out that she killed Pai Mei the eye pulling scene feels even that much better.
I will go this film again very soon, it is too good of a film not to see again in the theater.

You have to freeze frame it. But her name is there. Then again you are the one who for some unknown reason DIDN'T KNOW THE BRIDE WORKED FOR BILL?!?!?! HOW CAN THAT BE?!?!
QT stated it would be a new cut combining the two. First thing to go will be Kiddo's introduction/b&w drive in the beginning of vol 2 and would pick up directly where vol 1 ended. The credits to Vol 2 have all the characters of Vol 1 so that's not an issue.
So no intermission is needed.

What can I add that hasn't been said it 8 pages?
I noticed some people walking out saying they really liked it, but would give V1 the upper hand. Didn't anyone tell them its the same movie?
Pai Mei sequence was kickass for sure. His lines were subtitled here in NE. I loved that line Bill says about walking up those steps carrying buckets of water.
Yes, BB was a great little girl. If she had no talent it would've thrown a huge monkey wrench it the finale.
Some people wanted more info on Budd and Elle (and their relationship w/Bill)-probably deleted scenes and aren't too important anyhoo. They are secondary characters, this is Bride's story as w/Bills. So it was okay for me.
V1 felt like one incrediblely huge homage to everything kung fu, while V2 took those characters out of the homages and explored them within a real context-hence the no over-the-top gore or crazy fight sequences.
It's too early still to proclaim Oscar nods, since there's 8 months left for more great performances, but Carradine deserves it out of them all.
I can't wait to sit through it all in its entirity. Probably go see it again. My Grade: A-
