Actually, QT said that the daughter would be raised by Sofie Fatale and probably being trained by some other one of Bill's co-horts.
wonder how a woman with no arms could train somebody?

Umm...what are you talking about? Volume 2 has most of all the story. It tells how the Bride became the killing machine she is, it explains of course her relationship to Bill, what caused all of this to happen, and of course her revenge story with Budd, Elle, and Bill at last. it had all the meat to the story. How can anyone not see that? How does O-Ren's scene have more story? Cause we get to see her kill people? So if we saw Budd and Bill killing people that would be more story? Volume 2 answers all the questions that were set up in the first film. How, why, and of course tells the revenege and character story of Budd, Elle, and Bill.

And yes, the movie does raise some perfunctory questions about what this person did, what connection this person had to that, so on and so forth, but you act like that's somehow a bad thing. It makes this film a living breathing universe, as opposed to the normal movie where there three people in the movie and those are the only people who exist.

God I loved this movie if you can't tell. It's just fabulous and, combined with Volume 1 just purely amazing entertainment.

Everytime I see Vol.2, it gets better.

Exactly.

And how did this affect the story or film in any way?

It makes the character more iconic. Instead of going "Beatrix Kiddo" everyone knew the character as "The Bride." By the end of the film, the story needed to know her as a human being, so we get the reveal of her name. The end is about her as a person. But before that she's a killing machine, and the idea is to have her be a nameless bride, like the man with no name.

The bleeping was an obvious way to point that out...humorous, while making you go "hmm, I wonder what her name is."

Raise. Not train.

I'm sorry but the dialogues in Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction are infinitely, infinitely better than those found in Kill Bill Volumes 1 and especially 2. And this is coming from someone who LOVED Volume 2 and currently places it in the Top 4 films of 2004 at the moment.
Couldn't of said it better. Though you did mysteriously leave out R Dogs. :)

One thing that I want to point out that I never did in any of my old reviews is to acknowledge Robert Rodriguez's score. I practically bashed his music-conducting skills prior to seeing VOL-2 for the first time, but now that I've had the opportunity to watch the DVD for the---Oh, what is it, 12th time since I've bought it?---I really do have to eat some dirty crow thanks to the quite-brilliant score he provided.
In fact, when I first saw VOL-2 in theaters, I could've sworn that the music cue that plays when Elle collects the money from Budd was lifted from an obscure spaghetti western that I haven't yet seen. But come to find out, that was all Rodriguez.
Good job, Rod. And what a damn fine movie you worked on...FOR FREE!

Morricone deserves much more credit for the great score than Rodriguez does.

And hopefully he'll be talked about in the SE.

Well that answers my problem about it pretty well, but I'd still rather have it out. Although it's not going to keep me from loving these awesome movies. I'm extremley glad I caved in and bought the barebones discs. I'm not sure how long I could wait until the supposed special editions.

OK, I'm almost 2 years late to the party, but anyway... I saw this in the theater when it first came out but just rewatched it on DVD last night for the first time.

I love 95% of this movie. But for me, it really bogged down in the last chapter with Bill pontificating about just about anything and everything. I don't know if Tarantino was just so in love with his own dialogue, or Carradine, or what. But it just seemed to stretch on for an inordinate amount of time. I didn't really feel the tension building either. While the ideas put forth in the Superman speech made sense, I didn't believe that Bill was the guy who should have been espousing on them. I can't picture Bill as a comic book guy. Maybe QT should've left that speech for some other movie. It just seemed more like Bill being on an endless soliloquy than interaction.

The ending was just a little bit of a letdown for me. While we finally DO get to see Beatrix "kill Bill" it wasn't as dramatic as one would hope. Within the tone of the movie it makes sense (using the 5 finger...) but I think it didn't really provide a climax. The climax happened 30 minutes before when we see the awesome trailer fight with Elle and Beatrix.

OK, I just had to get that out. I feel better now even if no one responds. Maybe I'll change my tune in future viewings.

majorjoe23 07-04-06 10:54 AM

I think that speech very much was Bill. His talk about how Superman sees the world and others is actually how he sees the them. It was a great bit of insight into his character.

When I saw it in theatre's 2 years ago, I kept having this thought that it might dissapoint (similar to T3).

But when I was actually in there watching the various trailers, something in my head told me not to worry about it, sit back and enjoy the show.

I did that, and I Loved it, I haven't walked out of a theater that satisfied since.

I'd have to agree more or less. While certain points bogged down during the movie, I left the theater with the biggest smile of any movie I've ever seen.

Still waiting on those special edition dvds.

I agree with most of your post and especially the ending. Very disappointing ending to the movies for me.

Karate Kid did that for me. Granted I was 7 at the time, but I couldn't stop smiling leaving the theater.

I got tired of waiting and made my own just to see how it played out. I made my friends (some of whom never seen KB) watch it and they really liked.

Spoiler:
Basically I cut out the scene where they reveal that the baby was alive. I cut it when B closes the trunk lid on Sofie and put chapter 6 behind it. Then I inserted the deleted scene w/ Bill and Da Moe fight right after the ch.8 intro and before the camping scene. For my friends that haven't seen it they were as surprised as B to see that BB was alive. I think that was one of the things they shouldn't have revealed in pt 1. The scene w/ BB would have had a greater impact if the audience didn't know she was alive.
