So, I dont see what is the problem if some of the actors tonight chose to express their opinion (or give a hint) regarding what actually happened. To say that Sean Penn is arrogant because of this is rather...well, a poor choice. In the context of this statement I dont think that anyone could say that there isn't a parallelbetween Iraq and Vietnam- both unpopular wars. That's all.

I said Sean Penn is arrogant because he's a typical Hollywood elitist. He feels the need to "educate" the people with his opinion, which he's entitled to, but the reality is this is the Academy Awards and not Das Politikal Open Mic Night. I'm not insulting him because I disagree, I'm insulting him because it's not his place to spew out his opinions like verbal diahhrea.
You won an award. Thank God, thank your family and friends. Thank the film crew.
Don't sit there and tell us about the world as you see it. This is the 76th Annual Academy Awards, not The O'Reilly Factor with you as host.

So, let's just drop it. This is a night for films. I dont want to get into politics (AND I was not the one that brought up the war parallel, etc).
Cheers.

I'm not sure what is more odd, ROTK winning 11 Oscars or people posting during the Oscars. Are all you guys locked up alone in a room with a tv and a keyboard?

no justing running in between the computer room and the den at all those commercial breaks, and the fact that one didn't really need to watch the show but listen to it.

it won the Visual Effects award if that's any concilation. The picture was more effects-driven than photography-driven anyhow.

FotR won for Cinematography. Was this one any less?

Still, plenty of amazing shots both expansive and intimate. I just don't see how it was not one of the five best of the year.

I actually caught "The Weather Underground" at Visions Theatre last Friday. Not sure when the DVD is scheduled for release. And for the record my favourite docu film of last year was "My Architect".

Maybe that's why it did not win because FotR did. RotK was the worst-looking of the three, imo. There were plenty of films that looked better than RotK - I agreed w/ several that were nominated (for example: M&C; Cold Mountain).

Although if it had been nominated, it probably would have won.

Edit: perhaps my above post might be interpreted to say that since FotR won, RotK should have also because I asked if it was any less. But I did not intend to imply that.

the Blake Edwards stunt seemed slightly disturbing to watch, the camera reaction of the crowd made them seem equally perplexed by it.

Well..my final thoughts on the Oscar's:
- Catherine Zeta-Jones is unbelievably hot, as were most of the women that presented
- I thought Bill Murray deserved the best actor award, since it will be awhile before he may get another chance
- The Bankie Edwards part was surprisingly interesting. Especially the part about the "FOES"--because even when competing at art school--it holds so true
- LOTR deserved its night
- The Triplets of Belville song was amazing--I gotta go see it since its playing around here (where can I hear it again?)
- I thought Liv Tyler looked even cuter with the glasses (but I really like the glasses look)
