When will That Yellow Bastard hit the stores? I have seen it sitting in some stores, probably leftover from the days they were in print.
While the pics are neat, I will definitely say that the actors' characters look much better once they are placed into the B/W world after post-production.

Just did an online inventory search of my local Borders, none the of alleged books have been released yet according to their site, but don't know how reliable their site is.

Are you talking about the rerelease of the Sin City TPB's? The first round is slated for the 16th.

I don't think you'll have to worry about that as rather than have one big sprawling plot it will be three seperate stories with its own development.

While not necessary, I highly recommend reading some of the books just to get a feel.

Don't get me wrong, but are you the same guy who was totally unaware of both Lord of the Rings and Charlie and the Chocolate factory being based on another medium? I hope you find out certain forms of mediums exist without movies being made out of them. (Though I wish there were some interesting movies made to teach math and chemistry in my time.)

You can find the set here for a great price.

Donald Duck in Math Magic Land. That shit was classic. Well, elementary, but still.

Nope not me . . . I was well aware of the books before the movies were made (and had read them prior to seeing the films). In fact, I probably own more books than I do DVD's (although, haven't actually counted my books, so I can't be sure of that).

As for my "worry" about the film, three seperate stories actually doesn't make me feel much better. As I mentioned earlier, I think that one of Daredevil's biggest problems is that it tried to tell too many stories at once (without having a sufficient running time to do it). As a result, I didn't think it was able to effectively flesh out the details of any of them . . . they all seemed rushed to me.

I think Sin City looks like it could be great . . . I'm just hoping that it's done right so that we aren't all disappointed.

I am only curious as to why Big Fat Kill is in there over Dame to Kill For. It seems to me to make a lot more sense. Big Fat Kill is also probably my least favourite of the books, but I also admit that it might translate to film really well.

It might be because ADTKF is a denser story, and it would be easier to work BFK into the movie.

Or if I want to be cynical, Rodriguez is sitting on one of the better stories for the sequel. (I think he's stated that he'd like to film all of the graphic novels.) So if you have the first movie made up of Sin City/That Yellow Bastard/A Dame to Kill For, that would leave Family Values, Hell and Back, and The Big Fat Kill for the second movie. That would very much put the best books in the first movie, and leave the second movie with the second-string books.

Don't know anything about this movie other than it looks cool. Can't say I'm enthused with a lot of the cast though. Other than Bruce Willis, I'm not real high on Alba, Dawson, Duncan, or Hartnett. However, they might be the right choice for their particular role.

I still can't get over the fact that Elijah Wood is playing
Spoiler:
Kevin
. That'll either turn out amazingly well or pretty badly. Have to wait and see.

Do you think this will do well at the boxoffice? its got a great cast and an orginal look to it. Or do you think its too orginal looking and the average person won't take see it because of the look?

I see it pulling in a Kill-Bill-ish type crowd, with $70-$80 million.

Then the DVD sales will propel it enough to merit a sequel. Shame Rodgriguea didn't film a whole bunch of them and split the movie like QT did with Kill Bill, but then again, I think he is taking the safe approach.

The nice thing about having so many people in the movie is that not one of them will need to carry the movie since they won't be on the screen for the majority of the movie. I'm not high on many of the actors either but since Rodriguez is directing, I think that she should be able to melt it all into a great movie.

I see the movie making at least $60-70 million. I'm not sure how accessible the movie will be to wide audience.

Glad you are well read; people like you are rare nowaday.

In terms of how the stories are told, I have heard that they are taking the Pulp Fiction approach to them, and FWIW, QT actually directed a couple of scenes himself. Not sure how much, just what I heard.

In terms of "done right", well, that might be the problem area. RR is supposedly doing a direct translation, meaning he is using the comics lines as his script and the panels as his storyboard. In other words, aside from the nudity being covered and maybe a few lines cut out here and there, it will be an almost completely faithful adaptation. However, some people might argue that this is not the "right way" to do a movie of this nature.

Could someone post a breakdown of how many issues/volumes there are to Sin City and which way they are published? Im not familiar w/ comics at all and am interested in checking them out after seeing the trailer. I picked up A Dame to Kill For on ebay not realizing it was #1 of 6. Are they available complete in 1 book or 1 book per title?
Thanks
from what I gathered on amazon it goes:
Hard Goodbye
A Dame to Kill For
The Big Fat Kill
That Yellow Bastard
Family Values
Booze, Broads, & Bullets
Hell & Back
I guess I hadn't realized there would be multiple books per title

Your best bet is to get the graphic novels as it collects all the issues of that given series of 1 book per title story.

Is February 16th still the date for the new publications to come out? I have been on the net and they have them listed all the way from January 28th to February 28th.

The 23rd? The website for Dark Horse says the 16th, don't know who to believe anymore.

Hartnett's character is in this movie for a couple minutes... and has nothing to do with the three stories this movie is about. The scene is an opener. The character does play a bigger role in some of the short Sin City stories, as well as Hell and Back.

True. I personally see Hell and Back as very seperate from the rest of the series. I actually really like Hell and Back, up until maybe the last quarter (After the drug bit, say.) Then it just totally falls apart, very strange, IMHO, to have such a dive... but up until then, really really good.

Also, I think it'd be kind of weird to have the first Dwight story be in the same movie as the last Dwight one...

I co-own & run a comic book store so take my word for it, they are on my invoice for this Wed & being that the 16th has come & gone & the trades are not out yet is only further proof. NEVER trust the dates of the company websites or Wizard magazine. They are only the original solicit dates, 90% of the time there is a production hold up on the product & the shipping gets delayed.

I'm confused... the 16th hasn't come and gone, it's this Wednesday, which matches your invoice and matches the date on Dark Horse's website
