The Room (spoon!)

Re: The Room (spoilers!)
I'm not saying it's a bad thing that more people found out about it (I wouldn't have made this thread otherwise), but the way that people tend to react to it now is what annoyed me. It just didn't feel fun anymore.

I agree with you. Is like some of the guys that are now watching the Room for the first time are trying to hard. Instead of enjoying this piece of mediocrity, they now want to be part of the "event", overcompensating with the throwing of spoons or laughing at stuff that is not even funny intentionally or unintentionally.

Yeah, at that House That Drips Blood on Alex screening, anytime Tommy would say anything a few guys right behind me would laugh so hard I thought (and hoped) their throats would rip. And then they'd shout catchphrases because, you know, it's funny to repeat lines from The Room ad infinitum.

Holy Shit! I graduated high school with one of the actors in this.
Philip Haldiman, I believe he plays the college student. Real short guy with brown hair.
Now I'm gonna have to check this out.

The Room is playing Yale campus so I went. Tom Wiseau did not attend.
Frankly he would be good in a horror movie - he has such a hideous face, together with the monstrous body and 80s metal hair. Oh, and he shouldn't talk. Too bad this is a romantic ensemble drama and he plays a banker.
I came in hoping for a good laugh at a so bad it's good movie, and his accent really sold the best lines. And he screws up everything a first time writer and director could possibly screw up (I liked the obvious staginess of his "apartment", complete with boom mic drooping down between the actors) but unfortunately it really feels dull and pointless too. Without the audience using it as a straight man if you will, enthusiastically cheering every stupid line and bad dramatic moment, this would be another navel gazing festival reject. In short, Ed Wood's legacy is safe for now

Re: The Room (spoilers!)
Two friends of mine in North Carolina went and saw a midnight screening. They were sending me pictures through the whole thing. They thought it was a blast. I was just happy the first thought they had when they decided to go was of me.

I think the dialogue and acting is worse than Troll 2.
I still can't quite figure this movie out. Was it intentional or not? Sometimes I think it was, sometimes I think it wasn't.

Re: The Room (spoilers!)
So, I'm finally going to see a theatrical screening of The Room this Saturday. My two previous viewings were at home; first without the Rifftrax audio, then with it.
What should I expect? We're bringing spoons (of course).
I'm hoping that, because this has only been shown a handful of times in my city, the crowd won't be quite as bad as suprmallet and other have experienced.

Sandy Schklair (who is credited as Script Supervisor on the movie) is claiming that he directed most of the movie and wants a directing credit.
(The main article is in this week's Entertainment Weekly and isn't online yet, so the link is just excerpts).
