Roger Ebert gave it 3 stars and said it was the best of the mummy films. Like I have said, his credibility has been gone for quite some time, probably going on 10 years or so since Siskel died.

Looks really fun. I'd much rather watch a movie like this than seeing "critically acclaimed" movies about sociopaths, prostitutes, drug addicts, and serial killers.

It's at 11% on Rotten Tomatoes with 28 reviews. The previous films got 53% and 47%

Going to an internet message board, a place where people dissect everything about a movie BEFORE it is released, and saying this is pretty funny.

do we need a separate review thread? because i have one ready to go, but not sure of the interest...

Seantn 07-31-08 04:14 PM

Just post the thread and if there's no interest, it'll fade into obscurity. Problem solved.

Gonna wait for the dvd of this one I think.
I enjoyed the first two films but this one is pretty short (112 minutes vs. The Mummy @ 125 min and The Mummy 2 @ 130 minutes) and I am just bored to death by the silly use of CGI.

Seantn 07-31-08 04:38 PM

The Mummy 2 was 130 minutes? No wonder it sucked so bad.

Nothing will keep me from this movie this weekend. I think the first two are a lot of fun and dont expect this to be any different. Sign me up, so glad they made another one.

Brian thought pretty highly of this.

Watch out for the semi-big spoiler at the end of Eberts review - thanks Roger. :grumble:

Seantn 07-31-08 09:29 PM

Wow, that is sort of an out of left field spoiler in his final line. LOL.

The "Die, you mummies, die" reminded me of The Simpsons' visit to Itchy and Scratchy Land.
