This looks ok, i'll do it.

It's pretty hard to fire arrows into the ground and make them hit the target(s).

Looks like a lot of fun.

This was one of two issues I had with the trailer. This image is so overused I have to wonder why it was put in the trailer. Having it in the movie is acceptable but don't try to get my excited by showing me something Ive seen dozens of times now.

Goodbye, Rachel Weisz

LorenzoL 05-18-08 03:34 AM

The trailer looked okay but no offense to Maria Bello, but I'm going to miss Rachel Weisz playing Evy.

I agree, the few scenes of Evy in the trailer, it's like a totally serious character. Not that Evy wasn't serious in the first two, Rachel Weisz had a voice that somehow reminded me of that time period, and with the hair.

So if the son is in it, and he's an adult, this takes 10 to 15 years later, the 1940's, early 1950's?

kevin75 05-18-08 03:06 PM

i really liked the first one, the second one was weaker, but upon seeing the trailer for this one, it looks horrible. i do like maria bello, but she doesn't seem to fit what rachel weisz played. that and some of the dialogue in the trailer was just bad.

tylergfoster 05-18-08 06:59 PM

I dunno, I have to say that Evy wasn't that serious. She was a pretty big klutz. I wonder if they kept that.

In any case, I thought it looked okay, but then I went and read AICN and their comments somehow made it seem more endearing. Also if you just tune out the voiceover and watch the trailer and really try to take in the visuals and action it looks better. But as the AICN posters said, how can you say no to a movie with a yeti and a three-headed dragon?

looks great but for a movie with Mummy in the title where are the mummies?

mdc3000 06-20-08 03:25 PM

New trailer is online and it looks WAY BETTER than the one that is showing theatrically IMO...shows much more the of the story and has some way better lines.

I'm starting to think Rob Cohen might pull this thing off!

mrflix 06-20-08 03:29 PM

I really enjoyed the first one, was unimpressed and didn't really care for second and The Scorpoin King.

This one looks like it has a lot of potential, might be a late summer treat. The change of scenery is definitely a plus.

fumanstan 06-20-08 08:10 PM

Dug the new trailer a lot more then the old one as well.

Artman 06-20-08 08:56 PM

Looks good, slightly different look than the first two.. but that's not a bad thing imo. Cohen's one of those directors that's as good as the script and talent he's working with... he can certainly make a good looking movie.

12 reviews up at RT & this has the potential to be a big time bomb. 0 for 12. Swing Vote isn't sounding much better as the dog days of August get ready to begin.

BullGooseLoony 07-30-08 08:38 PM

I really enjoyed the original Mummy. The sequel had a solid story and the "feel" of a big-time sequel, but the special-effects were awful and completely ruined it for me. I'm keen on this new one, despite Weisz's absence, simply because this one of those "I never thought they'd actually make it" part threes, but the reviews on RT isn't encouraging me.

Daytripper 07-30-08 08:53 PM

I actually hated the first two movies, and thought the previews for the third looked like an approvement. But because of the all negative reviews on RT (and counting), I'll wait for HBO.

starman9000 07-31-08 06:41 AM

That sucks that the reviews are so bad. One of them gave it a 6.5/10, so I suppose that's about what I should have been expecting in a Mummy movie. I'll still check it out and anger some of those posters at RT that seem to think it will be a crime against humanity if TDK isn't the #1 movie for the rest of the summer.

mdc3000 07-31-08 08:53 AM

Looks like Rob Cohen strikes again...FUCK! I should have known better than to hope he could make a GOOD movie.

argh923 07-31-08 09:04 AM

Jesus christ people, watch the fucking movie and judge for yourselves.

When the reviews start off that bad, it makes me think i'd rather save my 10 bucks for the theater and wait for the DVD.

Hey, the first two MUMMY flicks weren't exactly well-acted masterpieces. He doesn't have a whole lot to live up to as far as fans of this franchise are concerned.

Does anyone else think that Brandon Fraiser is not funny, but he thinks that he is, or whoever directing him thinks he is? His one liners that have been in his trailers have been enough for me to not want to see any of his movies in the past 5 or so years.......with the exception of Crash, but I don't think he was in the trailer for that or I just never saw the trailer for that, not that it mattered in that movie since he was in one of his more serious roles that I can think of......and didn't bother me in it.

His career has been steadily going downhill since Encino Man. He isn't funny. At all. Most people in the theater are laughing at him than with him. He is an instant deterrent for me.
