Kill Bill lives up to the hype!
I just came back from a preview screening and I have to say that this movie lives up to the hype its previews have generated. If you had any interest in seeing this movie then you will be immensely pleased. Everything, from the acting (Thurman is the best Ive seen her) to the way the movie looks to the action is vintage Tarantino and top notch! Also the anime section detailing Lui's character's origin is breathtaking and Sonny Chiba does great work with his role. One other thing, this is as violent as some people have said, one of the best this year, hands down!
The little double ending is great and its going to be a long wait until February.

wow i was just reading an article about it. I could not put it down. Great article talking about what Uma went through for this movie.

an alternate (new?) trailer I saw for "Kill Bill" yesterday with "Once Upon A Time In Mexico" had me salivating to see the movie as soon as possible. The shot of Uma running up the handrail for some reason looked really cool. Can't remember where I read this, but I had just read that the one scene where Uma slashes and kills some 75 men, is done in one continuous three and half minute camera shot.
The fact that Tarantino has decided not to integrate any post production CGI into the fight scenes is a breath of fresh air; the overuse of it in alot of the current batch of Hollywood fodder is tired and mindlessly excessive IMO.

<sigh> Of course he's using computers in post-production. He's using them to remove the wires from the wire work. (And I wouldn't be surprised if there were other digital compostite shots as well.)
What he's not doing is using Matrix-style digital actors.

'Kill Bill'
Tarantino's 'Kill Bill': A Pulp Fiction Sequel
....I've seen this much-anticipated film and I can tell you that it is absolutely brilliant, a real tour de force.
From the opening credits (which are in Japanese) to the big finale in a place called "The House of Blue Leaves" (sorry John Guare), "Kill Bill" is full of visual knockouts. There are set piece homages to Tarantino's favorite Japanese films, which are going to be parodied and copied as slavishly as "Pulp Fiction."
It's "Crouching Tiger" and "The Matrix," mixed together and served with hot sauce. What a meal these three films will make some day at a revival house!
What surprised me most about "Kill Bill," though, was Thurman. She's had an iffy movie career, with some good stuff ("Pulp Fiction," "Dangerous Liaisons," "Hysterical Blindness") and some famously bad stuff ("Gattaca," "The Avengers," "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues").
In a way, she's perfect Tarantino material -- someone we think of as a star whose resume is littered with junk. Tarantino taps into that very insightfully. "Kill Bill" sort of marries these two ideas together for Thurman. Now she'll be a star like never before. Her performance is just stunning, a really glorious piece of physical, witty exertion.

I'm probably going to commit heresy and say something negative about Kill Bill. I have read the screenplay and I was definitely NOT impressed. Not one bit. The end was predictable and dumb and felt extremely forced, like Quentin was just looking for a way to finally end his 222-page script.
But I do think that the movie will be much better onscreen than it seems on the page. Here's why: one of the great things about the script is that it is extremely visual, in that it describes very specifically what we will see and hear(as well as how we will see and hear)what is onscreen. Most screenplays(if you read them)will only give you a setting and the dialogue, and that's it. The script for Kill Bill was very, very specific and for that reason I think it will play much better onscreen with all the Shaw's Brothers zooms, the Leone closeups, the spaghetti-western music, and especially the martial arts which look absolutely amazing. Anyone care to agree/disagree?

alright, according to the latest entertainment weekly with uma on the cover, the movie has been rated R (there were problems, but they figured it out.) the reason it was in two parts is because it would be too overwelming and violent in 3 hours, and this would be a way to spread it out some.

Correct.
I saw TV Spots for it on CBS last night.
Rated R.

I read the script and also wondered how it would fit into one film but when I heard it was going to be 2 movies i figured he had the problem solved. After seeing the film, I see he filmed the script exactly, nothing was left out. I do agree that the film doesnt have the snappy patter and extended dialogue scenes of his previous films but that seems to be a pigeonhole people have put him in and something he doesnt prescribe to for this film, its a straight up revenge film, take that as you want it.
