I'd rather wait for a masterpiece to come late than get a hack job on schedule

I realize that, but I was under the impressing that he had the whole thing ready to come out as one long movie last fall and just chopped in half for length/greed reasons.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. I was hoping to watch Kill Bill Vol. I before watching Vol II. Now I'll have to wait for both till April. We're letting the terrorists win.

I'm sure they didn't just look at a three hour piece and say... well why not chop it in half and put the cut rriiiiiiiight Here. Lets call it a night. I'm sure while one of the rough cut edits, the choice was made and so the post work that would have been done to both parts was just placed into Vol 1. Much like the work done with LOTR.. they were all filmed together, but they put the effort on the one coming out that winter since they knew they had time to work on the others later.

I'd rather have the best product then a rushed product. It may suck, but I'm willing to wait. atleast it's not a years difference wait like LOTR.

I can wait two extra months if the movie is worth it. I loved Vol. 1, although let's be real, it was no Mummy Returns...

Sure, this delay stinks. But what's a lousy eight weeks? April will be here before you know it.

Also, yes, when will "Kill Bill Vol. 1" be on DVD? I'm still reading conflicting dates.

I know post-production takes time, but in February there's no competition. In April the 16th, KBV2 will open up against the Punisher. They both will target the same audience. Granted I LOVED Kill Bill, as most of you do to, but I was eager to see Punisher, too. Strange move.

If you think the punisher will take away any box office power that kill bill has, then you might be over estimating the draw of the punisher.

I think they will both do good and you will get the same Die hard QT fan reaction as you do with any other QT film. it's not a strange move and I doubt anyone who was going to see the punisher or kill bill will miss one another just because there is two films out to choose from.

I'd like to know the reason rather than speculating. I dont see how delaying it makes them greedy. I also dont understand why they would need to delay a movie that was supposed to come out in October.

As long as they don't edit down the violence, I'll be happy.

I actually thought I'd be pissed at the split of the film - but I really wasn't at all - the split worked very well. I just didn't care for the (obvious) concessions made to tone down a lot of the violence that was shot.

There was a Fangoria article that showed a lot of the gore work for Kill Bill 1 - and almost none of what they showed ended up in the American version of the film - not to mention the B&W fight - but I won't even get into that here

Having gone to a screening of Kill Bill, Vol. 1 at the American Cinematheque just recently, Tarantino confirmed that he was indeed not done with the editing of Vol. 2. He had not finished editing the two movies as one film when Miramax decided to split it in two. He then abandoned the editing and reworked Vol. 1 into the shape it's in now. Tarantino said he likes the editing process to be one of discovery, and since he can do just about whatever he wants, that seems to be the best reason for the delay.

This is some bad news, but if it helps QT make Vol 2. even better, I can stand the delay.

CRAP! we may have to wait past June to get it acording to tarintino.info

January - 8 - 2004 The Quentin Tarantino Archives Latest News Submit news
KILL BILL VARIOUS NEWS
There has been a lot of blathering these days. About the Volume 1 DVD, about the Volume 2 release and about rumored projects.

Volume 1 DVD seems to be shifted to a later release date, probably April or so.

Volume 2 Release seems to be shifted to June or even later (maybe a possible Cannes 04 premiere)

The rumor about a possible QT Airplane drama seems to be total bullshit.

That's it for now. As soon as I have some official sources to quote, I will post the definite dates.

Sorry, I tried to help out, but my damn camcorder battery died halfway through the film. Man, I hate when that happens! Shit, and I counting on making enough cash to end up paying for my plane ticket too.

It's not my decision to make, so I hope no one chops my head off for saying this... but I would be pretty happy if part 2 of Kill Bill was released in June. These movies feel like they are better suited to the summer time. Maybe I'm weird for thinking that certain movies are seasonal, but after seeing Kill Bill I felt I should have walked out of the theater into a warm, late-light summer evening, not into the miserable-ass wind and snow.

I was going to post this YESTERDAY, seriously. But I had thought in the last few weeks, and I'll go on record right now to say, we won't see this until next September-October-November 2004. Why they ever planned to release in Feb is beyond me, but I think the conclusion sounds like a talkier film and viewers will carry it more on their Academy Award ballots next year, and Miramax will seek to keep it as fresh as possible. Face it, this probably isn't built to compete with Summer Blockbusters, and since Blockbuster season now extends from the first weekend in April til Mid September, why rush this and put it up against it. The people that want to see it will only want to see it more once DVD gets their juices flowing.

That's what I'm talking about.

Just so it stays in the grounds of talkable without any link on where to get it...

there has been a couple of them floating around.

There has been a workprint that came out a few days before theater release, a dvd screener was also floating around in it's many formats (xvid, full 3.9 gb's dvd-r, etc.) and all I'm am surprised the oversea's version hasn't been thrown on the net by now..

Kill Bill Vol-2 Teaser

http://movies.yahoo.com/movies/featu...lbill2qt1.html

In case anybody's wondering what the background music is, it's "Silhouette of Doom" from Navajo Joe.

still a big shame it got delayed...anyone know the real reason? so far is seems 2 rumors:

1) he hasn't finished editing the film

2) he wanted it to debut at cannes in april, so this heightens awareness and global attention
