Another vote for The Blob make sure you get the Criterion version!

My four year old son thinks this is the greatest movie ever!

I think Plan 9 From the Outer Space is the quintessential of all cheesy movie... not horror movies.

Hammer films
Quatermass and the Pit
Chris Lee's Hammer films

Bela Lugosi films if you are into the above or in general, just old films. Just about all of them are available for under 7 bucks each.

Universal Horror --- all required viewing for horror fans! At least give it a try.

Others in no order

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Exorcist
Halloween
Psycho --- fits more into suspense but the horror aspect was in the direction Hitchcock used as well.
Suspiria
Tenebre
Rabid Dogs
Black Christmas --- It inspired Halloween
Re-Animator
Carrie
Nightmare on Elm Street
Evil Dead films
Hellraiser 1,2
Braindead aka Dead Alive if you are into the gore.
Bad Taste

cool that you gave a shout out for Rabid Dogs!!! one of my all-time favs and I think under-rated due to the fact that many have never seen it...or even heard of it. took me awhile to track this one down last year, but very worth the high price I had to pay. Bava's gem, I think.

wow...only 70 bucks at half.com...thats more than I paid. but only by $10.

Gutwrencher, I think I talked to you about Rabid Dogs before!

It is a great film, I consider it one of Bava's best works, too bad it was never completed by himself.

I overpaid a little for a sealed copy. Mine was 100.00. I still kick myself for missing it when it was mail order for 39.99. For anyone who might want to get this film the prices have come down to the 50-60 range on Ebay.

right on Darth. not too many of us out there that will pay that much for a dvd. I think it was worth every penny myself. I kinda hope it stays rare! but yeah, I paid 60 bucks on e-bay and about 10 people were goin' for it....but there was no way I was gonna lose...I didnt care how out-of-bounds the price got. this has inspired me, so thanks...time to watch it again!!
