I finally saw this amazing film yesterday. The only Miyazaki film that I have seen before Sen to Chichiro no kamikaksuhi (Spirited Away – A+, 2001/2002, 125 minutes) is Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke – A+ , 1997/1999, 133 minutes). Spirited Away is even much better than Princess Mononoke.
For its sheer originality, breathtakingly inventive photography, brilliant and clever script, amazing music and unimaginable unpredictability like no other animation films, Spirited Away already blows me away even though the version I saw is the not so spectacularly English dubbed version. As somebody said, “From its rather non-descript beginnings, "Spirited Away" develops into a moving parable about learning to know yourself that surprises you at each turn and ends up tugging your heart strings as much as it can without ever yielding to any sort of concessions. There's no other word: this is a masterpiece.” I have never seen any animation film like Spirited Away, if Singin’ In The Rain is the greatest musical ever made, Spirited Away is by far, the best & greatest animation film that I’ve ever seen.
I can’t wait to see Miyazaki’s other works that may give me more insights or for me to further explore the mind of “one of the world’s greatest living artists”. His other much heralded & critically and commercially praised works (/USA English title, Year made/Shown in the USA and total running time):
Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro, 1988, 85 minutes)
On Your Mark (1995, short film)
Kurenai no buta (Crimson Pig, 1992, 94 minutes)
Majo no takkyubin (Kiki’s Delivery Service, 1989, 103 minutes)
Tenku no shiro Rapyuta (Castle in The Sky, 1986/1989, 124 minutes)
Kaze no tani no Naushika (Warriors of The Wind, 1984, 116 minutes)
Kariosutoro no shiro (Arsene Lupin and the Castle of Cagliostro , 1979, 110/100 minutes)
Right now, he is in pre-production of Hauru no ugoku shiro (Howl’s Moving Castle) which is scheduled to be released in Japan next year.

Also, if you haven't seen it - MAKE SURE you don't see the terribly cut up "Warriors of the Wind" - but instead see the film as it was meant to be seen: "Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind"

I think it's interesting how Miyazaki once said that Spirited Away was designed for a Japanese audience and might not play well for an American one, but I saw no problem with it working here. "Heisei Tanuki Gassen Ponpoko", on the other hand, is one seriously weird-ass movie.
