It gets pretty racy and very funny, so you might want to check out more than just clip 1.

thanks dolphinboy. just got done watching them.
while watching the first clip (is there some limit to the length of time for each clip that the person had to break it up into 6 segments?), I read someone's comments about Gillian's appearance on Ellen HERE - where the accent is mysteriously missing (an X-File? maybe that can be the subject of the next flick?).
from Wiki
Ultimately, she stays in the US until the end of the X-Files and moves to the UK in 2002.

from Wiki
She was born in Chicago to Edward and Rosemary Anderson, who were both of English and Irish descent. Soon after her birth her family moved to Puerto Rico for fifteen months and then to Crouch End in London. When she was eleven, her family moved again, this time to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she attended Fountain Elementary and then City Middle/High School, a program for gifted students with a strong emphasis on the humanities; she graduated in 1986. With her English accent and background, she felt out of place in the American Midwest, and developed a reputation as a strong-willed and rebellious teenager. Anderson, mocked because of her British accent, soon developed a Midwest dialect.

and it'll be a stand alone movie, which I'm very happy about.

I've never been an X-Files fan, but if I was, I would think I would be a little annoyed that after all this time waiting, the movie won't address any plotlines left open at the end of the series. So is the consensus that stand-alone story > mythology story?
On the other hand, I was kind of bored with the first X-Files movie because I didn't understand what the heck was going on with supernatural oil and killer bees. So this new movie sounds better geared for me.

Is this still a go with whole WGA strike? God I hope so after all these years. Yeah its a stand alone movie without the mythology this time. I think they are using the same idea they were touting for many years. It takes place before the later seasons and was to involve ghosts or some supernatural thing.
Everyone in my circle though does want resolution of the mythology as that was where all heart, character interaction and drama was for most fans. Yeah after season five and film with start of S6 the mythos started to suck and the whole Samantha thing was a huge slap in face but still we got till 2012 on Mayan calendar for this super invasion and battle
And hopefully a take back on the Samantha thing.

I'd say there's pretty much zero chance they won't reference the mythology/have it take place earlier in the series/not reference why Mulder/Scully aren't FBI agents anymore. It'd make zero sense.

I just read on Wikipedia that this film is currently filming in Canada. Is it true they have started filming? Sorry if it says so in this thread, but I'm in a bit of a hurry.

Die-hard fans will probably go ballistic if no explanation is given, or if they try to say this story happened BEFORE those events.

Seems like a no-win situation. If the story is a direct continuation of the finale, only hardcore fans will be able to enjoy it. If they try to wrap things up quickly, it will feel rushed or forced. If it takes place prior to the finale, I don't think anyone will enjoy it.

FYI, early estimates have X-Files 2 making only $5m on Friday and rough estimates for the weekend at around $12m. Ouch.

Now we'll be treated to tons of posts from fan-boys about how FOX didn't promote this movie enough or released it at the wrong time of year - but the truth (pardon the pun) is that the script was poor, the direction by Carter was dismal, and the only thing the film has going for it is the chemistry between Mulder and Scully.

^I wondered why the trailers were so bad and uninspiring... turns out they were because the marketing team had nothing to work with - which is why they didn't advertise the hell out of it. The blame for the box office has to fall of Chris Carter - he made an X-Files movie from a story that would BARELY classify as an X-File case. For shame.
