Why was there a Rambo III when there was no #1 or 2?

Yes...this has pissed me off for twenty years. I think the title change pretty much sums up what Hollywood thinks of action movie fans (read: that they're idiots and will accept anything you tell them).

Because everyone pretty much knows the character of Rambo, and considers them all Rambo movies. If you asked "Did you like Rambo" they'll probably know what you're talking about.

what about the rest of the Leonard movies ( they stopped and started with part 6?)
or Malcolm movies, I saw Malcolm 10, but they never made the first 9, what gives?
Same with American History 10?

The Friday series confuses me more than any other.
You have Friday the 13th, which for some reason was made before 1-12, and had sequels called Friday the 13th: Part II, etc. instead of Friday the 14th, 15th, 16th..... Then they went back and made the first 3 prequels: Friday, Next Friday, and Friday after Next, which didn't tie into the series very well at all. Granted, they still have 4-12 to tie it all together. (I assume Ice Cube is Jason's father or something.)

Don't forget that the upcoming sequel to The Fast and the Furious is currently entitled 2 Fast 2 Furious. Don't believe me?

And I'm so glad the studios were looking out for us when they made The Madness of King George. I would have been royally pissed to have found out there were no Madness of George or Madness of George II.
