Why was there a Rambo III when there was no #1 or 2?

First Blood
Rambo: First Blood Part II

Rambo III

FB1, FB2, R3?

Hmmm.......

Yes...this has pissed me off for twenty years. I think the title change pretty much sums up what Hollywood thinks of action movie fans (read: that they're idiots and will accept anything you tell them).

 Be sure to let us know when you have real problems. ;)

Because everyone pretty much knows the character of Rambo, and considers them all Rambo movies. If you asked "Did you like Rambo" they'll probably know what you're talking about.

what about the rest of the Leonard movies ( they stopped and started with part 6?)

or Malcolm movies, I saw Malcolm 10, but they never made the first 9, what gives?
Same with American History 10?

And on that note, where the hell are Ocean's 1 through 10???

Playitagainsam 01-18-03 10:33 AM

How about the first 399 blows?

Gioman 01-18-03 10:56 AM

Apollo 1 was boring as hell. The series didn't really get going until Part 11.

I think you'd have to find that in the adultdvdtalk section :)

Can't the same thing be said about the Alien movies?

Oh, and by the way, who cares....

The Friday series confuses me more than any other.

You have Friday the 13th, which for some reason was made before 1-12, and had sequels called Friday the 13th: Part II, etc. instead of Friday the 14th, 15th, 16th..... Then they went back and made the first 3 prequels: Friday, Next Friday, and Friday after Next, which didn't tie into the series very well at all. Granted, they still have 4-12 to tie it all together. (I assume Ice Cube is Jason's father or something.)

GuessWho 01-19-03 12:20 PM

not to mention...

sequel to live action 101 Dalmations is 102 Dalmations

but

sequel to animated 101 Dalmations is 101 Dalmations II

angryyoungman 01-19-03 12:35 PM

Don't forget that the upcoming sequel to The Fast and the Furious is currently entitled 2 Fast 2 Furious. Don't believe me?

And I'm so glad the studios were looking out for us when they made The Madness of King George. I would have been royally pissed to have found out there were no Madness of George or Madness of George II.

Parcher 01-19-03 03:06 PM

What about 200 cigarettes? Where are the first 199?

And what about the 13th warrior? I want to see what happened before he met the vikings....
GOD DAMN JOHN MCTIERNAN! ARRRGH!

KitchenSink 01-19-03 09:27 PM

And nobody gave a rat's ass about the first 11 Monkeys or Roger Maris' first 60 homers.
