If no one's mentioned Kurosawa's High and Low, that gets my vote. If so, I'll second it.

Two I don't think anyone has mentioned:

Babette's Feast - when she reveals where she came from.

The Seven Faces of Dr. Lao - "I can do it, Dr. Lao, I can do it!"

Agreed on Empire Strikes Back, pretty bold twist for the genre.

I have to go with:
Sixth Sense
Unbreakable
Usual Suspects

Recently, I thought the last line of Spider-man 2 was *perfect* if you were a fan.

Oh, and the last line of the Lost Boys was always cute.

Okay there have been a number of great contributions to this thread, so two (2) that come to mind that have not been mentioned are:

Kissing Jessica Stein
Primal Fear

Neither are a single shot or phrase, but both endings really do justice to two (2) really good movies.

And mind you I am not a Spike Lee fan, but He Got Game has got to have one of the most powerful endings in the last ten (10) years.

A River Runs Through It

The voiceover gets me every time:
Spoiler:
"Now nearly all those I loved and did not understand when I was young are dead, even Jesse. But I still reach out to them. Of course, now I am too old to be much of a fisherman, and now of course I usually fish the big waters alone, although some friends think I shouldn't. Like many fly fishermen in western Montana where the summer days are almost Arctic in length, I often do not start fishing until the cool of the evening. Then in the Arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being with my soul and memories and the sounds of the Big Blackfoot River and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will rise. Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of those rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters."

The scene before that is equally powerful:

Spoiler:
"As time passed my father struggled for more to hold on to-- asking me again and again had I told him everything. And finally I said to him maybe all I know about Paul is that he was a fine fisherman. You know more than that, my father said, he was beautiful."

For me, it's still The Third Man. Just walk on by...

Best final scene, EVER, bar none.

But Ozu's Sanma no aji comes damn close. Damn close. Close? Damn!

~Donnie Darko (great movie to watch, makes you think a lot after veiwing it)
~Sandlot (great family movie) and last but certainly not least
~Bourne Supremecy and The Italian Job

The ending for Paths of Glory suits the movie well.

Godfather II ends perfectly after everything that's happened over the two movies.

I agree with a lot of the ones here.

I'll also add Monsters Inc.

How about "The Matrix"? Neo's monologue then ripping into Rage Against the Machine.

I was a great ending, but it was taken from Fellini's La Strada - so all the props deserve to go to Fellini.

There are way too many mediocre endings in this thread, and I am quite frankly shocked that the best cinematic ending ever is not yet included. Gentlemen, I point you to Bridge on the River Kwai.

Having just watched Gladiator...I'll have to say that had a perfect ending. Hero dies, and great music

Limbo. Some of you who have seen it may disagree with me, but it was just perfect.

I love the ending to Fat Albert. I know that a lot of people will attack me for that, but I think that the real people who inspired the characters showing up at the "real" Fat Albert's grave was very touching.
