When will you be offering pointy crayons up for auction?

I sent him this question last night but no response. He's gotta know something's up.

Do you know if any have the tips broken off? Is the paper intact? My son likes to take the paper off. These must really be good crayons since they're getting such a high bid. I've never heard of this brand-guess they're the Mercedes of colored wax. Are they out of print or something?

Okay, someone bid against me. Woohoo.. a bidding war! But I am still leading.

It's all fun and games until you realize you apparently bid more than $12.63. -eek-

Just sent a question:
Could you tell me which of the crayons do NOT have a very pointed tip? Hopefully not "burnt siena".

It's threads like this that openly showcase the frightfully disturbing powers of The Other Forum..

Hah! That typewriter will be mine. The pool is getting kind of expensive though.

jarsim 06-27-03 11:47 PM

Uhm, I'm sure if an Otter wins any of his auctions . . . . there will be . . . let me say it first . . .

pics with the winning Otter?

crankyman 06-27-03 11:55 PM

i'm going to resell the crayons for $25.

RandyC 06-28-03 12:51 AM

Surely you couldn't have expected to get the Mercedes of colored wax for 17 cents!

RandyC 06-28-03 01:17 AM

BUT THEY ARE NOT ALL POINTY!

*sob*

The seller never did respond to my email. :(

Hmmm....could be that he doesn't want to admit that the paper isn't intact.

Preacher 06-28-03 10:39 AM

Alright who is responsible for the typewriter price? It is not RandyC's this time. -other-

Preacher 06-28-03 10:43 AM

Hah! The crayons are mine. When I win them I will post 80 pictures of me with each crayon. Including the gold one.
but what good is crayons without a typewiter. :(

I just could not let the -1 guy in. Although it certainly could be .....

crankyman 06-28-03 11:10 AM

there's a bidding war on the straws. i want them.

einTier 06-28-03 11:39 AM

Ack! I don't want the typerwriter that bad.

I was just going to have a monkey type on it and try to reproduce the works of shakespeare. The guy even told me that a monkey could use it, but he didn't think he'd want to. :(

I also have to wonder what the guy thinks now that his crayons are up to $18.00. These must be the special OOP Das Boot crayons.

Feneant 06-28-03 11:39 AM

18.00$ on the crayons now, Atlas153... dunno if its one of you.

It is me. I now am frontrunner for the crayons. Now I just have to wait it out. Gonna be a long few days. Heck my son can't wait to eat the Burnt Sienna

dek 06-28-03 06:00 PM

Got a response to the question I asked.

"I do not think that I have any other crayons.

I have attached a scan of the tips. I do not know why the bids are so high. I honestly think that the current bids are excessively high."

RandyC 06-28-03 07:05 PM

It is my imagination, or all the blunts in the back. :)

Still, them are some pointy crayons. The color selection is a little odd. Lots of pinks, very close in hue....and two whites! Because those are the most useless crayon if you are a kid. Like some cruel joke, the white crayon.

RandyC 06-28-03 09:28 PM

Just an amusing musing...

"Dear ebay seller,

My name is John Peter Simpson and I represent the International Crayon Collectors Society (ICCS) headquartered in New York. One of my members brought your current ebay auction to our attention, and frankly sir, we are delighted to finally see this rare specimen of the "Color Bunch" brand sold in the United States a number of years ago. For many of our avid collectors, this represents the last part of the puzzle, the holy grail if you would. The one that is very hard to get.

And often when one of these treasures is located, it was abused by some thankless child who put the crayons in their mouth, broke the crayons, left them in the car to warp or melt. At best, one can only hope that the ends are pointy.

Our legal counsel, a Mr. Reginald Otter Dek was asked to determine the pointiness of your set and he forwarded the pictures to our headquarters. We are taken aback at what we see.

Sir.. if I may. Can you verify that no crayons are broken. Do any wiggle side to side in their paper wrapper? Are all the wrappers intact? I apologize for prying, but it's impossible to determine a full value of this set without this information.

Now, if we can be so bold, would you consider selling the crayons out right? That would require you to end the auction early so we can wire a money order to you. We also require your discrete confidence. We represent some important collectors that want a chance to own a part of crayon history, but they can be a competitive lot and we would like to instead, place the crayons into our historical museum.

Best regards,

JPS

Preacher 06-28-03 09:29 PM

I own them all. Except for the pool. Probably ask that he ship them together. Christ what good is all this stuff without the pool?
