Anyone have nice customs for the Dirty Harry series? I have the Clint Eastwood Collection versions and can't stand the artwork (specifically the background and "CE Collection" border).

Or how about matching customs for the Mad Max series?

I'm also looking for the following snappers [must have properly repositioned covers and spines]:

Bullitt
The Right Stuff
The Mummy (1959 Hammer version)
The Outlaw Josey Wales (Custom with CE Collection specs)
Pale Rider (Custom with CE Collection specs)
The Getaway (1972 version)
A Walk to Remember
Executive Decision
Risky Business
Night Shift
Waiting for Guffman

And 2-disc set covers (Amaray or Alpha) for:

One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest
True Romance

Appreciate any help anyone can give me.

John,
I put my site up to take some of the slack missing when DVDCoverArt went down. I have a forum for posting covers and requests and I had a page of covers for downloading (30+) but not everyone was taking advantage of it. I know my site wasnt as large as Matts was but I tried to make the forum as informative as I could so people had another venue for their covers.

I can tell you from experience it's going to be extremely difficult to run a site like Matts. The cost is huge and there's no way to profit to cover the cost fo running the site.

For his bandwidth needs he needs a host with at 20-30gb of bandwidth a month and that'll cost around $30-$50 a month to run from a reliable webhost.

I have shopped around for a host so I know the costs and the needs to have a site running. My site had a third of the covers Matt did and I was approaching my max of 9gb of bandwidth.

I've been trying to find a way to limit downloads per person per day but so far nothing has come up. RKnewbow was working on this for me, but with my site temporarily down it's hard to do.
If a system like that cant be implemented that my site will never host that many covers.

I LOVE making custom covers and enjoy seeing the work of others and making it readily available, but in reality I can't afford a $40.00 a month bill just to enable people to download covers. That's the harsh reality of it.

A pay to download system would work but I don't think that's the way to go IMO.

I just highly doubt that Matt's site will return like it once was. Unless of course he's independantly wealthy. I know most everyone here (myself included) was saying they would contribute funds to keep the site alive and that may work but how do you determine who pays and who doesnt...?

It'll be difficult without help in some way that's for sure.

OK, I've read many of these threads and I give up. If anybody wants to make Matrix or either of the AP's for me, I'll gladly pay for them.

Ideas I had:

All we really need is a central web site - showing thumbnails of everybody's work - and linked to resources elsewhere. Each person would be responsible for finding a host for their own covers. It would be an index of all the covers that are available out there, and everybody would be sharing the server loads. For those without hosts, they could provide their e-mail or chat meeting info for peer-to-peer sharing.

This central site needs a forum.
DVD Talk (if willing) could set up a cover art forum, so each cover discussion can have its own thread; rather than extensions of one long thread.

I can do that. I have 3gb of space on my host server. Sebastians 2 Hellraisers are posted like that on my site.
The only thing is what about the people that have no place to put them for downloading?
But once my site is back up I would be more than willing to do that.

Then those people can have links to their e-mail addresses for cover mail-outs, chat info for file sharing, or find a friend who'll host for them. There could possibly be links to free or inexpensive hosting services on the central site.

December, there will be new Austin Powers covers coming out, so many can scan for you then.

Another idea I had was to keep a central request list for covers. Requests in discussion threads get buried too quickly. I'd like to see a single list of outstanding requests, and who needs/wants them. People can add their name to each request, so you'll know how desperately some of them are wanted. Plus, the date of the initial request would be listed, so you'll approximately how long the person has been asking for a needed cover. Once a request has been filled, it'll get taken off the list, or marked with a filled. There would be room in the request list to specify variations. It could get ugly if an artist has worked hard on a cover, but hasn't met the expectations of the requestor. Any ideas?

As I mentioned once before, I have a reliable web server at a teir 1 ISP facility in Dallas. Bandwidth shouldn't be an issue as I have 50GB/month limit. I would be willing to help with the hosting on any of the above mentioned ideas, IF the interest is there to warrant the time/effort.

That's a fantastic idea. We really do need some central site, even if it is purely communicative in nature and not a vehicle for mass downloading. A database/catalogue of available covers with links to the people who have them, would be terrific. Some will have their own websites for this and others just an email account. Either way at least I know the cover I'm looking for exists and I can then contact the person(s) who has it. And as Disc-Flipper mentions, a central "wish list" where everyone can input their requests and we can see what is really in high demand.

I do not have a site that could help with any of the suggestions. All the suggestions are interesting and good. Maybe we could get feedback on the web hosting suggestions from Jonathan.

I will reiterate -- I cannot contribute space, but I certainly would be willing to donate @ $20 2 or 3 times a year.

Do you just need those covers emailed to you, or are you looking for someone to print them out for you? Also, what kind of Matrix cover are you after? I have come across probably 20 different variations. Do you want a straight scan of the snapper case or some specific custom?

Me too. Why not create a membership site? The forums and threads could be open to the public, but downloading restricted to paying members. There are enough of us that I'm sure the cost could be kept reasonably low. If the site were just $3 a month, than 20 members would cover the prices speculated. And for those who couldn't afford or justify the expense, they could always just use the public forums to facilitate person-to-person exchanges. And of course such a site could also incorporate some of the ideas Disc-Flipper and others have proposed.

I think a paysite isn't a bad idea, but I think it would be better to make it a kind of pay per view system. We just have to figure out how much to take for a single download. Maybe 25cent? That way you don't have to be a member to download, and I think this will be more likely accepted then having to pay a monthly fee. I would also suggest a rating system, one rating from a "professional" judging the quality and then a user based rating were everony that downloaded the cover can vote...

Well as I have said, I'm more than willing to adapt my site to fit these needs. I'm good with HTML, but to create a pay-per-download site is beyond my skills.
I don't have a problem at all hosting thumbnails with links and part of my forum could be configured for the request lists...

I just have to get my webhost to get those new servers in soon or I'm finding a new host soon...

But my site WILL be back up...soon.

Long time listener, first time caller.

How about using a file sharing program (I would suggest limewire for its mac and pc support) and just adding a tag on the end? I did a search for "[dvdcs]" and nothing popped-up. I have a couple I'd be willing to throw on myself. If you had a centralized space with thumbnail previews you could also add a number code so people could search for the version they like.

Sample:

[dvdcs] Bull Durham 23514

Follow-up:

I placed the following 4 files on limewire:

[dvdcs] Flash Gordon
[dvdcs] Eraser
[dvdcs] Bull Durham
[dvdcs] European Vacation

Feel free to hop on and give it a try.

Do you still have the full Spider-Man image that you used on that "Superbit" custome? If so, could I get a copy of it?

[email protected]

BTW, anyone have a cover scan of the full-screen version of Spidey?
