I am no insider. Read the links. They are straight from the horse's mouth - VP at MS in charge of their video codec development, the guy who physically goes to the HD-DVD forum meetings around the world and votes on the specs. It's just about impossible to get a more authoritative source than that and he categorically denies your theories.
