Just an update...not only are you paying $45 including shipping but they said that you will also have to pay taxes when you pick up the package. Got an email from the company.

Then again, the movie does seem to run long...so a speedup is not a bad thing in this case.

I don't think people could've handled a lesbian romance with the Titanic catastrophe as the backdrop

>>I'm hoping that cd-wow will stock the 4-disc version at some point. They usually have pretty decent prices, and they are showing the 2-disc R2(UK) for pre-order at $14.95. I'm guessing if they stock the 4-disc, it'll probably run 25-35, which is totally acceptable for me.
----
where are you seeing it for $14.95?
UK CDWOW:£11.99
US CDWOW $22.95

oh, yeah-ive never noticed PAL speedup (other than seeing the RT listed at 4% shorter)
and in fact tell me if Im nuts-I think I see just a wee bit of improvement in the picture in many cases. I live in NTSC land (US) and own a very nice Yamaha dvd s657.

Use this link , then click the link to activate the $2 off. Click the dvd tab. Once loaded, type in Titanic in the search. There you will find your $14.95 price.

Release date is 10/17.

I'm also hoping for cd-wow to stock the 4-disc, but right now, Amazon.uk has got the 4-disc shipped for under $32.00. If you live outside the UK, they knock off the VAT charge, which is like 15%(?).

It is confirmed, Brazil is getting the 4 disc set. For reminder, Brazil R4 DVDs are NTSC and usually FOX releases are also R1 coded.

Regarding the PAL-NTSC conversion, there's really no reason to worry about it. It only happens with DVDs distributed by local independent companies, but that's hardly the case.

Found one place that has it for pre-order. Problem is...it's $40 still. Same as Mexico.

And the release date is 11/17.

Just FYI -- the U.S. 3-DVD set from Paramount *DOES* indeed have the 6.1 DTS-ES track.

Thanks.

What's your problem? Your first post included erroneous info that the DTS track *wasn't* on the R1. Since the lack of DTS is often good reason to go the international route, I would think some people (yes, even those in the INTERNATIONAL forum) might appreciate knowing that track IS on the R1.

Thanks.

My problem is clearly with people who can't read. I never posted that the R1 won't have DTS. In fact, my first post was a copy/paste of the original press release and SPECIFICALLY STATED that R1 would be getting DTS.
Everyone in this thread is well aware of R1 getting DTS. The question isn't about R1. It's about OTHER regions...hence...International.

Here's your first post in this thread. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it reads...

-------------

So...with this most recent news...

Quote:
More details are coming in as the launch date of Titanic: Collector's Edition looms closer. Okay, so here's what we can tell you so far: the film will be released in a two-disc "Special Edition" and a four-disc "Deluxe Collector's Edition" in non-Region 1 Europe, Australia and Latin America. Both configurations will feature three commentary tracks, a never-before-seen nine-minute alternate ending to the film and 50 minutes of branching featurettes during the movie. The four-disc edition also will include 45 minutes of deleted scenes, a making-of documentary, production and special effects featurettes, Celine Dion's music video and DVD-ROM material.
Now here's where Region 1 people may want to bite on their arms as they read on: from the looks of it, the four-disc "Deluxe Collector's Edition" will include additional bonus materials not available on the U.S. three-disc set. These will include the "HBO First Look: The Heart of the Ocean" making-of special, a collection of TV spots & trailers and three Easter Egg parody shorts ("Titanic in 30 Seconds With Bunnies," "MTV Movie Awards" and "SNL Skit With Bill Paxton and James Cameron"). Oh, and did I forget to mention that the two- and four-disc editions also will include DTS-ES 6.1 tracks? Yup, they certainly do. The domestic three-disc set will include only Dolby Digital 5.1 EX.
-------------------------

Right, guess I'm the one who can't read...

Yeah ok...so you proved the person who originally wrote that wrong. Happy now? either way...AGAIN...everyone is well aware that the R1 has DTS. THat was a very old post to be responding to now. Either way...

Let's get this thread back on track. Everyone? In case the main thread and every news story about this disc set has eluded you, HockeyMan2000 has stated that it is DTS in R1!

Onwards and upwards...
