anyone know a good place to get a nice trilogy box set for these movies (not the 5 hour cut). i just saw departed, and while it was good i don't believe it was as good ast the original...so i would like to buy a nice version of the trilogy

Jay G. 10-07-06 12:07 PM

You can get the three movies sans the 5 hour cut from dddhouse in one set:

http://www.dddhouse.com/v3/product_d...ProductID=4350

Otherwise, CD-Wow has the films available separately for $9.95 shipped.

If you want the trilogy boxset, get this one:

http://www.dddhouse.com/v3/product_d...ProductID=4350

I bought this 6 disc set around two months ago. It's the same as the 8 disc set, except it doesn't have the 5 hour cut and the fancy box. It has the same movie discs and extra discs though.

animatedude 10-08-06 07:15 AM

i don't know why ppl bother importing the HK and the korean sets when in fact the extras ae not subtitles in english.

import the UK tartan boxset, thanks.

Maybe because the UK set is twice as expensive and in PAL.

What is this 5 hour cut that you are referring to?

It's a special edit that combines all three movies into one long chronological film.

tacos 10-12-06 03:34 PM

Anyway to get the 5hr cut along with the originals in one set? Thanks

The Bus 10-12-06 03:51 PM

I have the 4-disc tin which IIRC is OOP. HK Flix seems to have some in stock: http://www.hkflix.com/xq/asp/filmID....qx/details.htm

At $50, it's not a bad deal at all. They're NTSC R0.

Not anymore. There was an Limited Edition 8-disc set that did, but it's now sold out and OOP.

Deymm... Bidding is still going on for the boxset

It states on the CDWOW site that each of these are only "1" disc. Is this correct, or are these really two-disc releases? When visiting HK Flix, the blue-covered Mega Star release now states that the second disc isn't included as of 11/06. :whofart:

I'm trying to grab the best current Region 1/0 NTSC copy of JUST the first Infernal Affairs re: dts (preferably the 6.1) track, transfer, extras ... the whole sha-bang. Anybody have any ideas?

Josh Z 01-24-07 02:00 PM

The extras on the Mega Star discs aren't anything worth going out of your way for.

At the time when I bought IA 1 from CDWow, all three IA titles were advertised as 2-disc set. So, the "one-disc" description is likely a deliberate change to reflect a new edition with reduced content. IA 3 is the only one still listed as 2-disc but who knows if they really still have this old version in-stock, given all the database glitches they have had in recent months.

bump for some questions.

I am interested in this boxset, and here is what I would like.

*The film's original language (if possible)
*DTS would be a great bonus.
*A reputable site that accepts paypal (I would like to use this, in conjunction to the $15 rebate)

I have $40 in my paypal account now. Can I get what I am looking for at this price?

barnesandnoble has this one, but I am not sure about the DTS, and it is also in Chinese.

That's the new R1 release from Dragon Dynasty. No DTS track, but it does have the original Cantonese soundtracks for the films. Cantonese is a dialect of Chinese. It also has English subtitled extras.

The DTS track is more important than the language. Any word on where I can get it? I saw a Region 3 release, but I don't think that my player is region free. (I have not tried a hack though)

The Running Man 02-19-07 01:04 PM

Just to let everyone know here, the 5 hour edit of the trilogy is not worth going all out of your way for.

It's a crudely edited version of all five films and not worth the effort to even see it really.

That seems counter-productive. You'd be happy with a poorly-done dub track as long as it's in DTS?

The HK "R3" releases aren't actually R3, they're really region-free. You can get them at CD-WOW for $9.95 each:

How crudely edited? Does the music get cut off abruptly during scene changes or something?

Am I missing anything by buying these separately? Are the other discs/extras worth the content? It doesn't appear that they accept paypal. :(
