Sorry, I can't really help you as I haven't figured all this stuff out yet. I've only been region-free for a couple of months and am only now really starting to shop around. I've bought some Korean and Chinese disks and just put in my first order from the UK last Friday but haven't ordered from Japan yet. I'd start by using an online currency converter to see how much it will be. I'm fortunate to have two co-workers from Japan in my office that will help me order it when I get around to it.

OK,

I'm still fairly new to the whole region-free arena, and I caved and got this last week, and have seen some of this (have had health issues in the family that haven't given me much time to sit in one spot for 110 minutes), but from what I saw, it was pretty good, and the DTS was much better than I was expecting. And the watermark wasn't too distracting either. But I haven't watched the whole thing yet, so take this comment for what it's worth.

There it is, but it is not available for purchase directly, you have to use the marketplace and they do not send outside Japan (that's the reason why Scaryguy can't buy it, not because Amazon.co.jp does not send to Australia).

oh my god (hands over face in disgust), I don't know what edition Nicheflix is renting out, but the DTS Director's Cut they have has a really irrating video logo, that randomly pops up on the upper left hand corner of the screen, talk about distracting...

It's the only version available, the Guangdong FACE disc. It's on all three versions.

I watched the Edko R3 theatrical cut last night, WHOA! Man, what an awesome flick, The DTS-ES sound was all that, and no totally uncalled for logos popping up. I got it at yesasia.com. The seem to be drying up everywhere though. Many retailers have pulled it. Maybe Miramax is pressuring them.

Miramax is contacting US online retailers and sending nasty notes apparently. Should still be available at places like layoyo and dddhouse and anyone else based overseas.

No, but it has other issues (faint ghosting, for example). Spend a few dollars more and get the Japanese Elite set.

There was a 500 yen coupon, not sure if it is still valid.

I just listened to the EDKO english dubbing. I can't believe how bad it sounds. You need subtitles for it as that's how bad it is. This has got to be the first dvd that I have heard dubbing on where the dubbing needed subtitles. Absolutely awful!!!

You won't find it at us.yesasia.com (you can thank Miramax, since they own the US rights). Go to dddhouse.com or layoyo.com.

I have the Edko R3. The DVD is at home and I am at work right now, but I swear I do not recall any English dubbing!

That's because there isn't any. The legit Edko release does not have an English dub.

Then I am not sure which version it was. In any case, it was the worst I have ever heard.
