From what i've heard...other countries get different masters. And this would be a different company so everything points to it being a different master. I think i'm going to hold off on purchasing it until I get a review. I'm sick of buying this title, to be honest. I got the original Leon...then the superbit...and now...the Japanese version probably.

Has anybody purchased the LE set? Thinking about buying it, but I already have the R1 dvd (corrected version) and I've dumped quite a bit of $$$ on the DDD sale.

There's a review here, and it seems to be a winner:

From that review:
This might bode well for the Fifth Element "Advanced Collector's Edition" as well, if Besson is providing new masters different from those that Columbia used.
Apart from the problems mentioned this edition (along with the R3 Korean edition) offer the best possible quality from the given source and are surprisingly better than the recent R1 superbit edition which exhibited copious amounts of edge enhancement which is thankfully almost absent on these prints, which appear to be sourced from Besson’s own production company and not the Columbia vault like the superbit and the R1 director’s cut.

I guess the R1 Fifth Element is still the way to go Josh. At least according to the same guys who made the Leon review

Oh well, I already own too many copies of that damn movie anyway. I can save myself a little money without this one.

I received the Leon double edition set a week or so ago, and it's a very beautiful release indeed. As per Japanese usual standards the packaging is an aesthetic marvel, the super-cool treatment this film really warrants.
Quality wise the actual image is very filmic, and a joy to behold. Smashing release - anyone who likes this film and is willing to part with the dosh would in no way be disappointed.

Considering I don't own a single copy of this marvelous film, I'd be up for scoring it, but $40 is a bit steep. I wonder if I could use that $5 yesasia coupon to bring the price down a bit?!

I just ordered it from Yesasia as well. This is my fourth time buying it (5th if you count the Jap LD). I think I will keep my Korean version as well.
