If DTS is all you are looking for the SB has that.

Rypro 525 03-26-04 04:16 PM

isn't the dts track screwed up?

matome 03-26-04 08:17 PM

I have all the incarnations of this on R1 DVD and Japanese laserdisc, and I have to say the complaints of no bass on the Superbit DTS aren't true, unless I have the only working copy pressed.

Yes.

Well...it was an obvious enough problem for a LOT of people to complain and for Columbia to fix the problem the first time around with the regular Leon release. It's entirely possible that they used the wrong master again.

Brett C 03-26-04 09:34 PM

It is quite possible they used the wrong master again, although I haven't compared it to the corrected earlier release myself. Interesting enough, anyone thats listened to the US Theatrical version, (The Professional)will notice its a completely different mix that was done in the States by Sony, and is superior to the one on the original, longer cut of the film. Annoying, as the longer cut is the preferable way to watch the film.

welb25 03-26-04 11:17 PM

So the current non Superbit R1 release of the longer cut (Leon) has had the sound corrected, right?

digitalfreaknyc 03-26-04 11:51 PM

As long as it says "remastered sound" on the back, it is. Otherwise, no.

The way to tell the difference is the corrected one has the number "06196" on the spine; the defective one has a number beginning with "04".

digitalfreaknyc 03-27-04 10:23 AM

It appears there will be two editions of this, one similar to the Korean 2 disc with "The Professional" included. No mention of DTS though.

The 2nd one has bitchin cover art.

Bill Geiger 03-27-04 08:22 PM

I have to agree with you on that one. Sadly, that will be the one without the DTS most likely.

What the hell do I know! LOL

Actually, I just read that both versions will have DTS. One will include both versions of the film and the other will just have the one (LONGER CUT).

OldBoy 04-18-04 06:38 PM

whatever this version turns out to be the "International" version that I already have will be the longest, most complete cut of this film, correct?

Sounds like someone has a serious case of DIP fear. ;)

OldBoy 04-18-04 07:02 PM

what is DIP?

Bill Geiger 04-18-04 07:14 PM

I can only guess he means "double" dip fear.

digitalfreaknyc 04-18-04 10:22 PM

I'm getting rid of my Superbit on Ebay and snatching up this version of Leon. No need to get both movies...I'll only watch Leon anyway.

OldBoy 04-19-04 09:06 AM

what r the specs for this new set?

welb25 04-29-04 07:10 AM

so since the Japanese disc of Leon is being handled by Paramount in Japan instead of Columbia/Tristar like the U.S. do you think it will probably have a different transfer than the U.S. editions? according to this site, http://www.thedvdetective.com/Mercha...Category_Code= , Leon will be the only one with DTS, the theatrical version won't have it. I don't know if that's correct or not.

OldBoy 05-03-04 06:09 PM

is one of the major differences with this set, the addition of theatrical cut and dts. If I have the R1 Leon (extended) it is the same movie as the one in this set correct?

welb25 05-03-04 09:52 PM

yeah, it will be the same film as the R1 Leon, it will just have the addition of a DTS track like the R1 Superbit.

Yah...and hopefully it will be a corrected DTS track...unlike the R1 superbit.

welb25 05-04-04 09:30 AM

let's hope so, digitalfreaknyc
