8 months ago when I started the first thread about IRREVERSIBLE...that is when it was first announced that there will be (still are) two versions offered:
single:
http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/tg/...#more-pictures
and the collectors edition..which is in fact a "coffret" (box)..including: Irreversible Edition Collector: + Seul contre tous
http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/tg/...#more-pictures
Now if you add up those two movies....then you should come up with the 160min or so indicated for the R3 release. Clear enough?
But I have not seen anything that indeed points toward such description...other than the timing.
As far as the status of the Korean disc....I dont think that they will include I stand Alone (as it is the case with the French Collector's pack) but you never know....
...and when I said "indeed" I meant YES YOU'RE correct the film is 95min.....aprox. (PAL/NTSC....difference should apply).
Regards,
S
ps
If you read this note posted earlier in the thread bY CHUCKY7:
"The French movie is being released by Paramount Korea and comes in Region code All with a nice digipac. It includes 6 frames of rape scene film. Although the movie was doctored to hide organs, it was done using computer graphics rather than using a big blockage. The movie made news in Korea when its uncut version was released."
....though the translation is rather loose...I would ASSUME that there might be some digital "corrections", hence, I would not recommend the R3....but you have to wait and see the final specs.

Dammit, dammit! I got an e-mail from CD-Wow this morning saying that the DVD is now backordered.
First Homicide from DDD, then New Blood from Digital Eyes, and now this. I'm having terrible luck lately...

Bus...I feel for you....I am still waiting for mine though...it shipped this past Monday so I am hoping I get it sometime next week.
on a side note, if you haven't seen TROUBLE EVERY DAY (with. Beatrice Dalle)....CdWow has it for a good price. It is quite an intense films as well.

Ok, here's a quick review (I have to go to work, so I will write more later):
The disc offers both 5.1 sound mix and 2.0 though all the retailers indicate only 2.0. Sound is very good, clear, with a deep bass esp in the first 20min of the movie. Very intense and rather disturbing the music score was created by Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk. Rather minimalistic but quite impressive I shall say with elements from the sound score used for the simple but striking menu (which is not 16/9 but standard as it is the practice with most of our DVDs in R1, and of course elsewhere).
Picture is very, VERY good, but not excellent...I would not say excellent due to the fact that I've seen the French DTS disc which was outstanding. However, the Tartan disc is more than solid. I doubt it LionsGate could get a better transfer. Colors are well saturated and with solid contrast.
The special features are mostly trailers, and teasers (the original French-18 trailer is included), filmographies of the main stars and the director Noe, Hannah McGill's Film notes (very basic, mostly info regarding the history of the project and the involvement of Cassel and Bellucci), and a few trailers of the "World" film series Tartan offers. That's it. Subs are removable and you could pick to watch the film from the main menu either with or without them. In addition- an Anamorphic picture of course with a running time of 95min. and PAL region 0 encoding. None of the extras from the French double disc are present mostly I am guessing due to the fact that they must have had to translate and pay extra for them ....if they had included them. All in all a very solid disc in my opinion. Glad I got it. I wish they would have had the DTS track from the Dutch version, in my view however, the British disc is more than worth the 20$ I paid.
The cover is very good and it is turned upside down...hence....linked to the plot-IRREVERSIBLE. Dont try to correct it. There is an insert that comes with the disc (good quality, thick paper is used).
Last but not least...I saw the movie last night and though I am sure you have heard all the hoopla by now....I have one thing to add: I knew about all the scenes and this film is.... BRUTAL TO THE CORE!!
Amazing production...so strong.....Hollywood will never make anything like it. Cassel was at its best (same as Monica).
Makes me laugh when I think that LionsGate will be releasing this...no way Blockbuster will carry this film.....unless the idiots dont know anything about it...and simply throw it on their shelves. We shall wait and see.
I give it 10 out of 10. Outstanding production.....and dont care what all the conservatives say.....this is film-making at its best!!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Hope this helps...let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks for the review! I was thinking about waiting for the Lions Gate disc but I might just pick up the Tartan one instead, as it sounds pretty nice.
Thats probably what will happen. They don't know crap about foreign films. It makes me giggle thinking of unsuspecting customers blindly renting this. "Oh, this looks like an interesting French film with that girl from Matrix Reloaded. Lets rent it".

Just got an email from koreandvd.com...
Irreversible
I was told that the dvd's special feature is uncut even though the main movie was doctored using computer graphics. We had wholesalers who checked the dvd out and they were determined sellable in foreign market where censorship is a SIN, so we hoped to sell few.
Hopes this helps

you are correct only the Dutch version contains DTS (though DVDzone2 indicates that both French and Dutch versions have DTS tracks) but I have never seen the Dutch disc so I cant tell you how good it is. Nor, I've seen the single French disc. That's why I assumed that the single French disc had a DTS track.
If you know either Dutch or French there are reviews of the the discs at dvd-basen.dk.
look here:
http://www.dvdzone2.com/dvd/search.a...e&kwt=t&pl=all
I saw the French "coffret" though and the quality was outstanding. I will correct the info above to indicate that only the single Dutch disc has DTS. I know that there is an Italian disc with forced Italian subs but I have no other info on it. Here's the cover for it:

ha ha ha. Nice remark Tyler. Furthermore, given the fact that the R3 will be digitally "corrected" I would not recommend it to anyone.
Why would you want to have the image uncut ONLY in the extra footage....it does not make any sense to me at all.

irreversible
hey pro-bassoonist, I am assuming that when you talk about the 2 disc french coffret you are refering to irreversible and seul contre tous together because when I look at amazon.fr this is the only 2 dvd set that I see.
