Irreversible R2 UK

did a search but nothing comes up.
so hello ppl,, pundits :-)
do you know the R2 UK disc of this controversial film is uncut? i think the theatrical release is uncut but not sure about video.
guess the French disc is just like the french disc: no Eng. Sub. so if i'm mistaken, i'm happy to know.

edit: forget to post link.

The british disc will be uncut.....there was a discussion over at HT regarding the issue.

The R1 release will be out on August 5 and will include a 5.1 mix as opposed to the 2.0 option which the British disc will offer.

pum 05-05-03 12:42 AM

well,,,thanks
i didn't know about R1 disc. is it confirmed? it's Lion gate's, isn't it? well,, maybe i'll wait for R1.

pro-bassoonist 05-05-03 02:57 AM

LionsGate....August 5

(it is also posted in Mao's list in the talk section....top-sticky).

Given the recent controversial films from LionsGate I expect good treatment (as I have been waiting way too long for this one).

One thing is for sure we wont get the DTS track the guys in Holland got!!

that's too bad 'cause i heard good things about sound aspect of this movie. but didn't look forward to DTS track from LionGate's anyway.

Where can I purchase the Holland disc? And does it have the same features that the French release had? And what do you think will come with the R1 release concerning Special Features?

pro-bassoonist 05-05-03 04:44 PM

the Dutch disc is available here (keep in mind that there are no English subs)

I am torn, I am about to do a fairly large order at play.com for a few R2s, I really want to pick up the Irreversible disc, but maybe I should wait.

Is this R1 definitely going to be uncut? At this moment I don't have a home theater set-up, so sound is not that important to me, but probably will be down the road. If that is the only difference I don't think it is worth the wait.

What do you guys think? Anybody know anything good or bad about this release to make me say forget it? I hate decisions like this.

pro-bassoonist 05-19-03 09:30 AM

The R1 release will be uncut as I have confirmed with LionsGate/Palm Pictures. In fact this is the only way Noe wants his film released- it has been discussed already! Even if you really want to own the R2 (British disc) I would wait and read a few reviews before getting IT as this appears to be a different disc (compared to what is already on the market in France and Holland- a DTS, 5.1 version).

If sound is not important to you then you should go with the PAL disc as picture quality I assume will be better (as this is the case with many French discs.....in this case a British DVD). I have seen the double French "coffret" which is outstanding. I will order the British disc myself but.....would like to hear if the LionsGate release will have any extras......which we will know soon.

On a side note....PLAY.COM DOES NOT SHIP TO THE STATES!!!

I KNOW THAT!!! ;)

My sister lives in London and is coming back to the states in June. So I order and have them delivered to her flat and when she comes in she brings them with her.

I am just going to order the R2 and if the R1 has some good things on it I may just doubledip.

pro-bassoonist 05-19-03 12:03 PM

well.......YOU ARE LUCKY THEN!!

I wish I knew your sister....(mmmm...you know what I mean)!!

Anyone want to tell me what this means (am I to assume that the Koreans are getting the French "coffret" with I STAND ALONE included?). If this is the case, since the specs indicate 160min...I would be very interested)---the R1 version of I STAND ALONE is non-anamorphic by the way....

This is the email that I got from KoreanDVD so you might want to take a look...

Irreversible

The French movie is being released by Paramount Korea and comes in Region code All with a nice digipac. It includes 6 frames of rape scene film. Although the movie was doctored to hide organs, it was done using computer graphics rather than using a big blockage. The movie made news in Korea when its uncut version was released.

This harrowing and violent film, complete with the nine-minute rape sequence, shocked many festival audiences, and another scene where a man is bludgeoned with a fire extinguisher.

pro-bassoonist 05-24-03 12:15 PM

Thank's ........getting the British version!!....for now!!!

Just found somewhat of a review of the Tartan release (www.bbc.co.uk) that came out May 26. It says the the extras got dumped, but a 5.1 audio track was added. Anyone know anymore?

pro-bassoonist 05-28-03 04:52 PM

I read this a couple of days ago...My disc should be here by next Monday. As soon as I get I will post a review.

Somehow this BBC "review" seems very shaky!

Raul3 05-28-03 06:48 PM

can anyone confirm the specs for the korean release? I checked thepage but I didn't find the details about the pack.

mrwilson 05-28-03 07:56 PM

Gotta love that cover! Koreandvds.com's specs are very reliable. I've only had one that wasn't accurate, Evita wasn't 16:9, and they let me return it.

bobertkay99 05-29-03 04:53 PM

Is this korean release uncut? It says 160 mins(gotta say I thought the flick was only 90 mins).

pro-bassoonist 05-29-03 05:30 PM

Indeed. As you could see it indicates "with bonus filmcut" which leads me to believe that this is a copy of the French Coffret (which I have to doubt myself...I dont think that I STAND ALONE WILL BE inculded).

As for the status of the film Noe has stated that he wants his film uncut.....however I again highly doubt it that such move will be suitable for the Korean market.....(I have been wrong in the past though).

For the time being...Tartan's release should suffice.....

bobertkay99 05-29-03 06:02 PM

that response didnt really answer my question(and what is "French Cofferet"?), does anyone have any hard proof on whether this release is cut or not?

Cosmic Bus 05-29-03 07:52 PM

Just to confirm before I order, this is the Tartan R2 release with English subtitles, correct?

pro-bassoonist 05-29-03 07:56 PM

yes Bus....and you could get it from cdwow1.net for 20.00$ shipped to the States.....use the MC link.
