Re: Umbrella Entertainment releases
Those Umbrella sets are massive. I have several and Vinegar Syndrome or not, are way better in terms of content and books. Not booklets, but books. If you can find some Umbrella discount coupons it'd be worth it to stack with their free shipping option.

This is a really cool looking set, but I am not sure I am a big enough fan of the series to splurge on this. I do enjoy the series though, especially the second one.

^ Saw that as well in their email yesterday. I got around to all of those movies rather late in the game, and not even in the right order (!), and was surprised how good they were, and how ‘all-in’ the effects were. I definitely won’t spring for an overpriced set like that, but perhaps it’s a sign one of the US boutiques will port it over eventually without so much clutter (or that Umbrella will get around to a discs-only edition like they often do). I thought it was interesting that the regular ‘collector’s bundle’ is listed at $220 AUD while the deluxe bundle (the one you pictured) is $270 AUD for the same stuff plus one VHS tape of the first film. I get the whole ‘retro’ thing for VHS these days, but it’s amazing the markups these companies get away with on them.
The other one they promoted in their email is Junya Sato’s MANHUNT (1976), with two versions of the film. This one at least comes in regular edition as well as the fancier one (pictured). John Woo’s 2017 remake of this was one of his more mediocre but watchable endeavours (ymmv, of course), bordering on self-parody, but the core story seemed sound so I’d be curious to see this if I can find a good deal on it some day.

I would maybe pair it with Wrong Turn, a movie I really enjoy, but damn, that Steelbook artwork is hideous, if not downright disgusting. Not sure I even want that on my shelf. Reminds me of how crappy that cover for VS's release of Dirty Work was.
