Yes to both. 4K to buy physical media for movies that will rock the home theater. If a streaming option, 4K that way also if available.

I'm buying DAWN OF THE DEAD 2004 on 4K and that might be it. I think at this point I would upgrade about 20-25 movies to 4K, and that's all I'm buying.

I support both. Discs still look better so movies I really want, I'll stick with physical and stream the others.

I've double dipped on a handful that I had on BD but mostly I stick to new releases. I have upgraded a handful from DVD that I never double dipped on for BD.

Re: 2023 -- Are you supporting the 4K UHD format for physical media and streaming?

Yes, but primarily streaming.

Yes, 4K on disc is great, especially the sound. I saw some of Game of Thrones on 4K disc recently and the opening credits are a whole different experience in DTS. I don't see a difference in picture quality in general.

However, streaming is just so much cheaper, with regular iTunes sales. Relatively new releases go on sale for $10 regularly. I bought the 10-movie Star Trek collection for $20. Would the discs be better? Probably, at least a bit. Would it be worth hundreds of dollars more? Not at all.

I have a few 4K discs that I've picked up for cheap along the way, but I find that the visual difference between a 4K disc and a well-mastered Blu-ray disc is so slight that I don't see upgrading anything that I've already got on Blu-ray. As it stands, I won't be able to watch everything I already own on disc before I die, so there's really no need to add another format into the mix.

As far as 4K streaming goes, I don't care one way or another.

Sometimes, good enough is good enough.
Ha, my 3d tv not dying is basically the only reason my main tv isn't upgraded (well that and I still don't know if it's time to buy a 4k receiver). It's too big (I know, I know) for another room and I can't just get rid of it. I have a 4k TCL Roku but it's smaller. That said I have bought some UHDs to support the format (if they either also come with Blu or digital versions), I just don't really watch them. Some might call that a sickness.

My kids don't care, they're fine with streaming on the non 4k tv. And I still buy DVD and Blu Rays, especially for stuff like Toku or anime which aren't going to get a 4k release anytime soon.

At the moment, only 4K UHD (physical media).
