That said, I’ll likely try and get a copy of the red/blue slip edition of RED TO KILL, which I missed out on last time because of this exact same ridiculousness. That is, if it doesn’t “sell out” again in thirty seconds, and then magically reappear down the road for some other promo opportunity, again promoted on social media first, all others pound salt.
It sold out while I was entering my payment information 2-minutes later

Their methods of generating demand are probably the sloppiest of any of these companies. I know they’re a small-scale operation, seemingly operating out of some guy’s townhouse based on the shipping address on my previous packages, but it would take no effort at all to time the release of emails to coincide with posts on social media so everyone at least has a fair shot. I do hope they keep going after the fringe-y, presumably cheaper-to-license Japanese and Thai stuff as I have little interest in owning those at their prices. I do wish those Hong Kong titles they’ve been teasing for ages now were coming from someone else, though.

I guess they’ll be trying to carve out a niche with the Thai stuff after all. Since no other companies bother, that might work for them if they’re choosy. Thai horror runs the gamut, although both ALONE and COMING SOON are pretty good.
I’ll believe LADY NINJA when I see it
although that does look like a finished slip design.

Sigh . . . a few months.
Oh well, the Gold Ninja disc (which is halfway decent) will have to tide me over. Not to mention YouTube.

This listing for the Thai film PEE MAK seems new as well, and I don’t recall it in their previous announcements, and the listing doesn’t have any dates, but all the supplements are there.

Haven’t seen this one, but it’s a horror-comedy, and Thai comedy can be a very mixed bag. This is from the same writer-director as ALONE and the excellent original SHUTTER, which may work in its favour. I still wonder if they’re taking a risk with these Thai pictures in general as there has never really been much of an international audience for them outside of the old Hong Kong DVDs, and most are not exactly classics of world cinema (even if they’re representative of Thai cinema in general). I sometimes think a budget label might be better off doing three- or four-packs just to get keep them in circulation.

Ordered the Mermaid Legend (1984) (LE)
Also did a pre-order for the SE versions of Red To Kill (1994) and Run & Kill (1993), which are tentative for June.
The aftermarket prices for the LEs of those films are ridiculous, so I'm glad patience paid off here.

This seems true for most (or nearly all?) of their LE editions, which does make it tempting to sell the ones I did manage to get – despite their efforts to frustrate me to no end – and just rebuild a SE library. Now that they seem to be moving into relatively/comparatively recent Thai cinema which doesn’t interest me as much (especially at their prices), I would probably be set for a while.
I do wish they’d stop the ‘limited SE’ thing though, where the SE versions appear on the site for a limited time, then “sell out” again (like FATAL TERMINATION today), making people think they’re OOP when they’re not. I’m sure it’s about their logistics in not really having enough people to fulfill large quantities of orders, but most customers are already so well accustomed to long delays from this company that they’d probably put up with a delayed shipment just to have access to the full catalog for the duration. As always, I’m sure they’ll make another batch of catalog discs available when a future round of pre-orders go up.

And going back to something I beefed about more than once in this thread, Thai cinema:

Preorders for The Challenge of the Lady Ninja go up on September 12th. Their version of the Takashi Ishii: 4 Tales of Nami collection is on the way too. (Unclear if they'll be individual releases or in a box set.)
And as for Thrilling Bloody Sword:
And as for Thrilling Bloody Sword:
It’s still happening and it looks better than we could’ve ever imagined. We assure you! We’re aiming to have it finished by the end of this year. It’ll probably be one of our next pre-order titles after these 9 are delivered to customers. But we will keep everyone posted on it. Just a little longer, we promise!

The Ishii films were released by Third Window Films in the UK last month, so presumably they’ll stay together, but I wouldn’t put it past Error to find a way to split them into double features or something. The UK set has a decent range of older cast/crew interviews and new westerner commentaries.
In fact, Third Window has put out a fair amount of smaller Japanese genre films in the last while (or will be soon), and I’d wager that we’ll see a lot of these in Error’s announcements as there seems to be some kind of connection (?).

Error more or less confirms the Thai ART OF THE DEVIL trilogy on that Facebook post (and as usual, they can’t be bothered to send friggin’ email versions of announcements to their subscriber list
). Tokyo Shock released these on DVD ages ago and they can all be had quite cheap at this point, although I know a lot of folks here are Blu or 4K or nothing. Like a lot of Thai genre films, these are worth test driving first.

Error 4444 has a new sublabel:

The idea is that Error 4444 is exclusively Asian films, and Phantom Transmission is...well, the rest of the world, with 4444 remaining their primary focus. Their first release under this imprint is Two Front Teeth (2006). I couldn't quickly find a trailer, but:
tl;dw: no-budget zombie elves. Preorders start Friday afternoon.

Pre-Order no placeholders are up (well, some so far). Available starting Friday. Pricey.

Looks like the NAMI films stayed together as in the Third Window set. No extras listed, but I’m betting it’ll be the same. Kinda odd that these four later films in the series (#’s 6-9) get doubly released while the original five – all written by Ishii, one directed by him) have been MIA since their Artsmagic DVD days. I’ve never imagined great demand for these, but I guess pink and pink-adjacent films are a bandwagon once again.
