According to The Digital Bits, it looks the UK release of the Complete Adventure WILL also include those discs.

I'm frankly feeling a bit conflicted as to whether or not I should pull the trigger and buy the Complete Adventure. Hmmm..

I also pre ordered the limited edition box set. Might have to redirect delivery to my brothers place because I get in late that day as I am flying home from a Chicago trip with my dad that day and I am worried about porch pirates.

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

FYI, it appears that the Star Trek 4K singles have dropped to $19.99 each on Amazon. Except TMP Director's edition.

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

If I can snag the existing 4K set for $20. Is there any reason to not do it and pick up V, VI and the collectors edition of TMP as opposed to the TMP CE and the upcoming six film set?

Here are the contents of the 6 movie box set

NEW! Star Trek: The Motion Picture —The Director’s Edition (4K + Blu-Ray)
· NEW! Star Trek: The Motion Picture — The Director’s Edition Bonus Content (BR)
· Star Trek: The Motion Picture Theatrical Cut (4K + BR)
· Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Theatrical & Directors Cut (4K + BR)
· Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (4K + BR)
· Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (4K + BR)
· NEW! Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (4K + BR)
· NEW! Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country Theatrical & Directors Cut (4K + BR)

The main difference is you're getting the new 4K and BD Director's editions of TMP as well as the theatrical cut aside from V and VI being added.

That's a fantastic deal and I think the savings trump having everything in one box.

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

Sorry for shilling there then, but since it seems there might be a couple people interested, if anyone wants to buy my still-sealed Star Trek I-IV 4K box set, I'll let it go for $25 shipped. PM me. I never had a chance to open it, and now I think I'll just get the I-VI box instead.

I went to preorder V & VI and they jacked the price of V up to $27.99 So I guess it's Amazon for VI and Best Buy for V.

By the way, for those with region-free players (or if you only care about the 4K discs), Zavvi has the Director's Edition set for $78. The Blu-rays in the set are (supposedly) Region B (although its possible they'll wind up being region-free).

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

Thanks for the heads up Toddarino. I just checked, they automatically applied the new lower price to my pre-order, cool beans. This could still become a hot collectible set not long after it is officially released. I remember that the Arrow Gamera complete collection box set was at around $180 when I had my Dad order it for me as a gift, then it dropped at least $40 before release down to no more than $140, and of course went OOP not long after its release going for crazy prices on eBay.

That being said, I still have the Gamera set sealed on my shelves, along with the hot Ghostbusters set, because while they may now be worth as much as if not more than I paid for them if I decide to resell, once they are gone from my collection they are not coming back so I have to always ask myself if I really need the money now, and if not just hang onto these beloved sets as long as I can.

I will probably do the same with this set, get all giddy if I see it has become a hot tamale, but ultimately keep it. I do not have that many Blu/UHDs in my apt, so freeing up space by selling my blu/uhds is not a priority right now. As I type this out, I am thinking of the thread that was recently created asking if folks would be okay getting rid of all physical media but fortunately for me, selling my media would not do much to open up my apt space.

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

I applied a $75 gift card I just got, so now I’m looking at $44 for all 6 films. Feels less painful overall since I’m also buying the Motion Picture monstrous set which is still at $83.

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

The digital versions of Trek 5 and 6 have been updated with the new remastered copies. Not 4K yet, but you can see the difference. Trek 6 on blu-ray had so much DNR that everyone looked almost waxy. The new transfers look much better.

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

If you guys want to save 10 GBP on the big Motion Picture 4K set then switch country locations in the Amazon app from U.S. to UK in the menu drop-down window. Enter the code: APP10UK. I upgraded the shipping to Global Priority and my grand total was $74 and some change. My domestic total was $91.50, with sales tax. My total savings is $17 and some change.

Keep in mind this coupon code only works on the app.

The 4K 6 movie set and TMP Director's edition are scheduled to come out tomorrow. I pre-ordered it, but the delivery also got bumped by Amazon for me to next Wednesday and Thursday.

And in case you missed it, Paramount + pulled TMP director's edition from streaming August 31st. So I guess they want to sell some discs now.

The U.S. Boxed set is sold out on Amazon. It says it ships from 1-4 weeks via the Amazon UK store. You snooze, you lose if you didn't get it in on it via Amazon.

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

My copy of The Motion Picture 4K director’s edition box set shipped. Looks like it’s completely sold out now. As I posted in this thread, one of the producers of that set said it’s a very limited set. Once it’s gone, there’s no more.

I’m guessing some people were hesitant because of the price.

The 6 movie set says it’s temporarily out of stock. I’m getting it next week. I heard it was delayed.
