Films at Home creator, Jeff interviews Oscar Becher, Archivist and Vault Manager for VS. It's an interesting hour.

Showgirls in 4k is the pre-order for the Halfway to Black Friday sale. 🤣

Ordered Showgirls. I still have that Ultimate DVD set. It still holds my record for best overall release package.

I don't know why I got semi-obsessed with this movie.

No, there is plenty of better T & A on this thing called the internet. Something called Google.

Re: The Official Vinegar Syndrome Thread

Just noticed the 'Welcome To VS' bundles. Are those a new addition to the site? Nothing in them I don't already have (aside from a couple of titles I don't really want), but might be of interest to newcomers. I'm wondering if it's just a way of clearing out low-sellers? I'm not sure the pricing would beat the usual 50% off sales, though.

Those collections have been on the website for a while now. They include movies I already have but it'd nice to see Raw Force on that link as it's a title that I think everyone recommends to people who are new to collecting Vinegar Syndrome movies.

It's definitely near the top of my list.

The gay guy (no idea what his name is) that does one of the commentaries is probably one of the funniest and most enjoyable commentaries I have ever heard. After watching it once with that commentary, I not only viewed the movie completely differently, but I never wanted to watch it again without that commentary playing. One of the very, very few commentaries that did that for me.

RAW FORCE is definitely a gem. In fact, in the set with that included, all five are a lot of fun. Just watched DEATH PROMISE a couple of months ago and it's one of the more consistently (if unintentionally) amusing "martial arts buddies make a movie" movies I've seen (and I have a bunch!).

That's David Schmader, who has hosted "annotated screenings" of Showgirls as a sort of piece of performance art since 1999.

I might also recommend the book 'It Doesn't Suck: Showgirls' by Adam Nayman, which actually mounts a sincere (non-ironic) defense of the film.

Re: The Official Vinegar Syndrome Thread

I watched Showgirls last night with that Commentary and it's a lot of fun. I'm sure it'll get carried over to this new release. Also went ahead and placed my pre-order.

Ordered Show Girls. I watched the first half of Sidekicks this morning. Yet another title that looks far better than I’d have ever expected.

I wonder if Showgirls will include the You Don’t Nomi documentary. Seems like the perfect release for that.

Re: The Official Vinegar Syndrome Thread

I caved and ordered Showgirls last night. The ability to combine shipping with the halfway sale was an additional incentive.

For Hong Kong fans looking for something different, I highly recommend BULLETS OVER SUMMER, Wilson Yip's next picture after BIO-ZOMBIE (coming on another VS label as I recall), and from his fertile era long before he became an IP MAN assembly line.

Re: The Official Vinegar Syndrome Thread

I keep checking the VS website waiting to find out how soon we will find out the extras for the Showgirls 4k set. I hope it carries over the commentary plus I've heard the TV edit of the movie is pretty funny although I've never seen it.

At worst, they'll be revealed alongside the remaining Halfway to Black Friday titles. Maybe we'll know at the beginning of the month.

Re: The Official Vinegar Syndrome Thread

The extras for Showgirls are listed on the Vinegar Syndrome website. I couldnt do a copy and paste of them from my phone to this post. Looks like all existing extras from previous releases will port over including the commentary and a bunch of new interviews.

Re: The Official Vinegar Syndrome Thread

That documentary is widely available and has a separate dvd/bluray released so it probably couldn't be included.
