re: The Official Vinegar Syndrome Thread
Typed a reply earlier that actually addressed most of the same points clckworng brought up – just to show that I don't need to be lectured on how companies like VS make money trading on tween/teen and other nostalgia – but didn't get a chance to hit post before this reply.
That said, I'm not going down this road again. The tone's hard to miss, and it oversimplifies my whole take on the issue (especially the crack about a non-existent "obsession with formats and trying to keep things on lower ones." In fact, my reply was largely motivated by the like-minded posts by 'Toddarino' and 'LorenzoL' above regarding the kinds of forgettable films being revived these days, 4K and Blu, and how it saves some of us money). I don't begrudge anyone anything - the majority of my collection is Blu-ray! Come on.
We can all buy whatever we like. Or not.

UHD has become the new slipcover for niche cult fare on home video. Sidekicks doesn't really require 4K but a label does it as another marketing point in a crowded collector's market.

At the same time, when the Ultra Ultimate Slipcase Leatherbound Super-Duper Steelbook copy of Sidekicks sells out and is currently selling for $250+ on eBay...who will have the last laugh then, hmmm?

It actually makes me snicker when I see some of the movies currently getting the UHD treatment and then seeing true classics nowhere near getting released on UHD. It is almost like Bizarro World.
I can buy Cloak & Dagger (1984) on 4K UHD but I currently can't buy Amadeus (1984) on UHD. What the fuck?

The Black Friday preorder weekend starts on the 23rd. I have no clue what the movies will be.

Road House is a popular guess for the VSU. Bloodsport was a favorite pick for a minute, but it sounds like the money’s on Road House right now.
We know there’ll be another volume of Home Grown Horrors (Moonstalker + 2 other slashers), along with a slasher in UHD (from the VHS era; never on DVD/Blu-ray) and an over-the-top violent Hong Kong flick. Earlier teases point to the HK movie being On the Run.
We’ll know all of those as soon as the calendar flips over to Friday. The other two titles are a heavily requested movie in UHD and another never-on-Blu slasher. Some folks have guessed Ms. 45 for the UHD title based on some of the teaser images.

Sure enough, it’s Road House! Extras TBA, surprisingly.
The other UHD title is Invisible Maniac, which we’ve known has been coming for a long while, and now we know when! And the Hong Kong title is actually Burning Paradise, despite the dead certainty so many others had. The other two Homegrown Horrors are Dead Girls and Hanging Heart.
Still two titles that we’ll find out about in November:

But that’s not even close to being all as there’s two more titles which we’re not gonna tell you about…perhaps the craziest of the bunch…the Surprise Titles, one of which is a big budget sleaze epic with an equally epic cast, and the other a delirious celebration of murder and mayhem that ranks amongst the more over the top entries in annals the 80s slashers. We can basically guarantee that you're not gonna be disappointed…

I'll likely be placing my preorder for Road House before the weekend is over.

VinSyn is making the other November titles available to order on their own, so if you wanted, say, Burning Paradise and nothing else, you can pre-order that right now.

Didn't they have free shipping over $X amount at some point?

Looks like Road House is sold out for Pre-Order. When did this get put up? I just got the newsletter about 15 minutes ago that it was available and it was sold out. Anybody have any luck?

Scratch that. Now it seems to be available. Maybe I just clicked the link to early and it said it was sold out. Just got my pre-order in.

Supposedly if you click the image, it says “sold out” but will work if you reload the page. Some weird pathing bug.

I'm wondering how many copies of the Road House box set will be produced. 5 or 6,000? It seems like they might make as many as 10,000.
