DiabolikDVD shipped my Trick R Treat 4K UHD today. Hopefully the post office will be nice enough to deliver it before Halloween.

INCUBUS and RAMPO NOIR are nice surprises, and both have what appear to be decent new extras. Wouldn’t mind those in a future sale. Guess I should sell off the ancient DVDs while I still can!

Is Inglorious Basterds supposed to improve on the Universal 4K that seemed to get low marks?

Incubus could be interesting if they got a nice print to use.

Ooo TCM2. Is one of those sequels that is in no way better than the first but I love it more. Also in that group: Back to the Future 2, Robocop 2, and Gremlins 2.

lol I can’t argue they’re better (though I might try with Gremlins 2). I just like them more.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Robocop 2 does not belong on a list with Gremlins 2, which even Eli Roth agrees is a great sequel. Robo 2 is just not a good film, but different folks, different strokes.

I know that for gore hounds TCM 2 is a beloved film. I have not seen due to knowing the gore can be a bit extreme to watch and my stomach may not be strong enough to take in TCM 2.

Curious if Arrows Lifeforce has all the cuts of the film in HD, Shout received a lot of flak for their somewhat incomplete 4K release of Lifeforce.

Excited to buy Lifeforce if it ends up being the definitive release of this fan favorite film.

ETA: Hi Def Ninja site seems to indicate we get the 4k International release, think we have a winner

Lifeforce will have both cuts in 4K from what I understand.

I would not call TCM 2 a horror movie, for what it’s worth. It’s more of a gonzo splatter-comedy. For better or worse, there’s not much of anything else out there like it. Definitely a longtime favorite of mine.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Here’s the thing about Robocop 2. The title isn’t indicating that it’s the second Robocop film but it is in fact named after the films’ villain, Robocop 2. So …. yeah that’s pretty cool.

Plus I saw it first way too young (11?) in the theaters. It left a mark. It is by far the worst of the sequels i listed but i love it no less.

Gotta agree. I came to it relatively late into the video era, some time well after 2000 as I recall. I didn’t consciously avoid it, but just never took the time to rent or buy it. I’d read little things about it here and there, but never too deeply. I think I assumed it couldn’t possibly top the bleak intensity and grunginess of the original. And the trailers kinda made it look silly in comparison. When I finally saw it, it floored me. It really is its own beast, miles away from the original yet obviously tethered to it. I’m sure it’s gorier than the original, too, but it’s so confidently over the top and tongue-in-cheek – and with first rate production values to boot, despite the deliberate clutter everywhere – that the gorey bits didn’t hit me the same way as the comparatively gore-free kills in the original. I think all three of Hooper’s 80’s Cannon pictures put so much stuff on screen that it’s easy to forgive their flaws.

And I likewise find ROBOCOP 2, GREMLINS 2, and BTTF2 to have immense replay value while not actually being better than the originals.

Don't Torture a Duckling and Deep Blue Sea are both essential upgrades for me.

Not sure Don't Torture a Duckling needs 4K.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I received my Demolition Man 4k boxed set over the weekend. I haven't watched the full movie yet but it was great to see it again as I haven't watched it since the VHS days. It's always been one of my favorite Stallone movies outside of his signature franchises(Rocky and Rambo).

If things are okay when the next B&N sale for Arrow happens, I want to get the Mexico trilogy boxset - has anybody who has picked it up had any regrets about getting it?

I got it mostly for the new special features (that's what I care about the most), plus Desperado 4K. I couldn't even tell U in details about Video or Audio presentations. Looks/sounds good to me. Don't need the old Blu-rays anymore.

You mean regrets aside from now being stuck owning a copy of Once Upon a Time in Mexico?
