I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for anything on 3D disc from Disney anymore. We might stand a better chance to see them on Disney+ at some point. And you can still buy them on digital only on Vudu.

Frozen 3D - https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...eatures/524798
Big Hero 6 3D - https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...eatures/621477

I think my wishlist is complete and hope they get good cover artwork

I hope one of them gets released in the Spring.

This is the worst part, just release them and be done with it already. DMC exclusive would be plenty sufficient.

What is the hold up with the Black Cauldron?

The hold up is they never gave a shit about The Black Cauldron.

I was frankly surprised that it even got a DVD release when it did in 2000.

Yup, a two-movie collection of the music ones is only logical. I don't know why it hasn't happened yet.

As for Black Cauldron, the HD transfer has been available on digital services for 8 or 9 years, I think, so they should just slap it on a disc already.

No solicitations on this one, but apparently classic Mulan is being released in 4K next Tues., Nov. 10, alongside the live-action remake. Best Buy has an exclusive steelbook for both movies. Target has an exclusive storybook for the live-action one.

Yeah, it seems like the Signature Collection might be dead.

Well, "The Jungle Book (1967)" and "Fantasia/Fantasia 2000" are still/currently not available on Digital and/or in stores...yet, right?

Well, maybe they can happen sometime next year? Well, we'll just see.

I had never seen Mulan but my girlfriend wanted to watch it tonight on Disney+ after we finished the new episode of The Mandalorian. Really liked it a lot. May have to pick up the 4K at some point.

I hope they were delayed because of the pandemic and not permanently shelved.

Well, the last Signature Collection issues were in Sep 2019, and they were half-hearted attempts. There was plenty of time between then and March 2020 to have planned and/or announced any further releases. So I’m not optimistic at this point of any further releases.

Frankly, I think it’s more due to Disney+ killing demand for physical releases outside of new releases. Disney hasn’t done any substantial catalog releases since the beginning of this year, right? And now with the merging of all the home entertainment divisions with a focus on the Disney+ service, I don’t see de-emphasis of physical media changing.

Disney has also seemingly abandoned Blu-ray exclusives for their movie club. Now that they are hemorrhaging cash with their parks shut down, I don't see them getting heavily back into physical media.

Hey, TheBang, if you were to make "Walt Disney Animated Classics 2021 Blu-ray and 4K releases", maybe "The Jungle Book: Signature Collection" & "Fantasia: Signature Collection" can be put in the "Nowhere in sight" list?

WeeBey 12-26-20 06:35 PM

Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2020 Blu-ray and 4K releases

Taking a broader view of Disney's disc output this year:

- Walt Disney Pictures released 14 movies this year and only two of them have been released on disc (potentially three if Soul gets one).

- Of the three 20th Century Studio films released, two were released on disc.

- Of the three Searchlight films released this year, one was released on disc.

- No Lucasfilm or Marvel movies this year.

Frozen II, a 2019 film, came to disc this year along with 4K editions of the animated Mulan and Beauty and the Beast. There was also Hocus Pocus, Home Alone and Maleficent on 4K. For TV, only miniseries The Last Dance was released.

Make of it what you will.

Yeah, I don’t make much of that at all.

Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2020 Blu-ray and 4K releases

I thought maybe they were delayed because of the pandemic

They could still get sales if they don't put their animated classics on Disney + or they expire after a limited streaming window.
