No idea how this impacts the future of media for Disney in the short run, but Iger is out as CEO. He was behind the most recent push for "vaulting" certain Disney titles.

Bob Chapek was hand-picked by Iger as his successor and he'll be nurse-maided by Iger into his new position over the next two years. I doubt things will change all that much, for good or for ill.

Whatever you might say about Iger, he was EXPONENTIALLY better than Michael fucking Eisner!

Eisner had run the Pixar relationship into the ground, and was ready to go forward without them. The first thing Iger did was repair that relationship and pave the way for the acquisition a year later.

Re: STAR WARS: The Rise Of Skywalker

I tried to preorder this on the Target site and it wouldn't let me choose store pickup yet, just delivery. Will they open up that option closer to release date?
Or am I going to have to run over there on my lunch break and hope for a good condition copy?

it usually opens up on site day of release for pickup. That’s been my experience with these.

Re: STAR WARS: The Rise Of Skywalker

Watched EVERY Star Wars movie in the theater (1977 Star Wars 70MM in Denver, Centennial Theater) several times each, owned on VHS, DVD, BR and now 4K, BUT...

I am not really looking to spend my $$$ on this SW movie.

So many things I was disappointed with in the movie...felt like they did not have a plan, just threw this movie together and other stuff.

C’mon, you’re not hot gonna complete the set? Even if you disliked it that much, not more than prequels...

I had a blast and am looking forward to revisiting it, more so than Force Awakens and Last Jedi, both of which I liked as well.

I'm still surprised at all the negative reactions to TROS. It followed up TFA, acknowledged that TLJ exists (which is more than it deserves ) and also wraps up the whole saga. And Chewie finally got his damn medal!

Was some of this fan-service ? Yes, the glorious, sloppy, messy kind that's so much fun to wallow around in and I'm absolutely getting this on day one.

I've come to the conclusion that there is a segment of SW fans that just want to bitch and complain unless the movie is Empire Strikes Back quality (which they will never get again). It's not even the internet as I have friends that were bitching and complaining on the way over to the theater on Opening Night! I think there a legit gripes with every movie since 1983, but people either need to enjoy them for what they are or move on.

Vudu has this now instead of 3/17.

It also seems to have 2 extra features digitally versus what’s on the Blu-ray.

Re: STAR WARS: The Rise Of Skywalker

I finally took the leap (also posted in the spoiler filled reviews thread) and got the UHD release on Vudu. I loved it! Top 3 or 4 (including non-trilogy movies). Really fun.

I noticed lots of grain in some scenes, though, and was a little surprised. Did Abrams films some of this in 16mm or something?

Re: STAR WARS: The Rise Of Skywalker

What scenes had the grain?

Going off my one theatrical viewing there were some scenes that had different lighting and grading and may come across as grain.

You may be right about the grading. Since I only watched it once I can't give great details of the scenes, but some with Rey in a very white environment (was she communing with Ren at the time?) seemed to have film grain. It wasn't horrible, just surprising.

Re: STAR WARS: The Rise Of Skywalker

Wasn't this film shot in 35mm with some scenes in 65mm? I'm pretty sure it wasn't digitally shot. So film grain would be expected.

Re: STAR WARS: The Rise Of Skywalker

There were a few scenes that had lots of sand and ash particles being kicked up, so I'm thinking folks may be confusing those elements with heavy grain. The video looked great in DV and the Atmos soundtrack rocked.

The documentary was really good. Star Wars always seems to nail the documentaries. It was great to see how many practical effects were used, among other things.

Re: STAR WARS: The Rise Of Skywalker

Docu is fantastic for sure. As a Star Wars kid-turned ‘just let it end’ guy, I’m shocked at how good the whole home video package is. Really dug the bit in the doc about the C3-PO brain doc puppeteering
