From Star Wars To Jedi is on the official Star Wars Youtube channel:

So Disney/Lucasfilm aren't exactly suppressing these documentaries.

Decided to cancel my Amazon UK pre-order for the Skywalker Saga. Might rejoin the Disney Movie Club and see if I can get in on a deal through that eventually. There are a couple other releases through that which are exclusive through them that I’d like to get anyways.

Worth knowing.

And about The Last Jedi.

The Digital Bits has reviews up for the individual releases. I took a look at the OT reviews, and it appears the commentaries and everything from the OT disc from the Complete Saga BD has been brought over, but NOT the stuff from the Star Wars Spoofs and Documentaries disc, except for Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi. You'd think they would have at least put The Making of Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back: SPFX on their appropriate discs.

Not worth it for Fox (or Disney) to author new discs for stuff like that. I’m sure they saw it as small sacrifices as the new sets weren’t meant to be any kind of ultimate editions. So hold on to those blu sets if you’re looking for mostly completion.

What are you talking about? They did author new discs: each movie has its own bonus disc now, with a lot of the content from the Blu-ray "Complete Saga" set moved to them. There's just some stuff missing, for whatever reason, whether it's space issues or licensing issues, or whatever.

For the spoofs, I know once Disney bought Lucasfilm, they were looking to downplay the mocking of Star Wars, which is why that whole Star Wars: Detours show was shelved, despite having completed episodes. They also maybe didn't want to bother with licensing all the fan films again.

Right, but those few left over, I can see them thinking it's not worth it to add another whole disc and reconfigure the entire set for them.

Scrapping Detours is one of the rare bright spots in Disney ownership of Star Wars. I don't think the franchise needed a parody like that, and that Paramount is doing animated Star Trek series also makes me nervous.

I'm also okay with not including fan films and spoofs on official releases. It sort of cheapens the whole thing.

Well, we'll have to see if there simply wasn't any space left on, say, the Episode IV: A New Hope bonus disc to include the Making of Star Wars documentary on it. As was pointed out, Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi was moved to the ROTJ bonus disc.

Picked up the individual 4K releases of the OT this morning at Target.

Reviews seemed to be a bit mixed on these releases but after selling the Digital Codes, I paid about $20 for each one, which I'm happy about.

Really? Just about every review I’ve read so far say they’re solid upgrades, and in a few cases are better then what Disney+ offers.

The Digital Bits reviews had me sold on these.

Other forums, while acknowledging the films are an upgrade, have shown mixed feelings towards the results.

Watched an unboxing of this set. Looks like it’s pretty nice. I wouldn’t mind having it other than the price and I wish the set wasn’t oddly shaped like it is.

Yeah, my cobbled together Blu collection will have to suffice for now. I really want a COMPLETE collection, with all the extras and, yes, the original versions of the OT.
This just feels like another stopgap collection.

Your stopgap collection may be it. I can't see any reason why they would release these again (especially the Skywalker Saga), beyond 4K. OT original versions are a pipe dream that will never come to fruition.

They've already re-released The Last Jedi in 4K, with new extras. Now, there may not be an 8K disc release or anything, but they could re-release in UHD with additional bonus features, like the GOUT.

Apparently there is a glue dot on the front of the packaging holding the J-card on that leaves a circle on the front cover. For a $250 collectors edition that isn't acceptable. Plus The Empire Strikes Back supposedly looks like shit.

I think at the least there may eventually be a repackaged version of the Skywalker Saga available eventually that isn’t a store exclusive. That’s kind of what I’m holding out for as I’d rather have a more normal sized package that fits on the shelf.

Either that or I’ll wait until the prices drop on the individual releases and pick those up gradually. I’m not in a big rush to get them or anything. I don’t intend on paying $30 a piece for all of them. Even that much for just the Original Trilogy, which is what I mainly want is way too much.

I'm waiting for the eventual $14.99 price point. Hopefully that'll happen during a Buy 2, get 1 free type of sale like the Marvel titles. I'm not in a hurry to get these.

This was filmed on actual film but I think the FX were only done at 2K. Maybe Disney didn't think it was worth going back for another scan.

That's another reason I'm waiting, this box was clearly rushed to be out with TROS on 4K/Blu. We'll have to wait a few more years for actual remasters.

I hear the Atmos audio on The Phantom Menace is awesome. The video on the other hand reveals all the limitations of early digital filmmaking.

I have not bought a version since the initial DVD release. I keep saying they won't get any of my money until they include the OOT. If that never happens, I will enjoy the fan done film transfers and despecialised versions. I would give Disney whatever they ask for, if they released it, but I won't give them any more money. (Well, I get Disney+ free, and I would probably subscribe if I had to)

While I agree with you that they shouldn't have used the glue at all on a collector's package, the mark that it left on the front of my box was very minor. Certainly not enough for me to worry about.
