Re: Blade Runner 2049 --> 1/16/18
I watched the movie again last night and enjoyed it a bit more than my initial viewing.
The big problem I have with it is the running time.
2 and 3/4 hours to tell its story is at least a half an hour too long.
The AV of the BD is excellent.

Don't get me wrong; I wasn't bored.
My objection is the editing could have been tightened up and still presented/executed the plot.
OTOH, there is something to be said about "heavenly length," as one music critic said about Schubert's 9th Symphony...

I didn't have a problem with the film's length, I felt like the ending was a formulaic trope.

Summary
If you're a 3D addict, then I suspect you'll want to add BR 2049 to your collection, if for no other reason than because you'll want to support Warner's laudable efforts to keep the format afloat. But it's not the film's best presentation either sonically or visually.

Can't necessarily disagree with that assessment, but for my money the 3D makes the film's needlessly excessive run time much more bearable.

So are we SOL on the Best Buy 4K steelbook? No second run?

Doesn't look like it. After I saw some of the eBay prices, I kept mine sealed for the time being. We already rented it from the library and I don't even have a 4K TV, so I'm in no hurry to open it.

If anyone is still looking for the 4K steelbook version, you might want to pop in store this week. While I was picking The Incredibles 4K steelbook today, one of the employees was putting out a couple copies on the front rack. It looks like they are stocking this one and the IT 4K steelbooks again and even better, they are $27.99 this week.
