Re: UHD release announcements

MediaOCD is working on a 4K release. It's likely a Discotek Media release (it could also be Anime Limited). If it's Discotek, it could be announced around late July (Otakon).

This is available on UK Amazon...no word yet if something similar is going to be offered in the United States. But I believe the second disc is just a Blu-ray version and everything else is just "swag" (photos, etc.).

Cool

The cover artwork is better with the collector's edition.

Vacation is ok but not sure if I want to go for a 4K upgrade

You better hurry. It's only on a few screens and already available on digital 4K.

Was planning on seeing it with my son when I travel to see him next weekend. Didn't realize it was going to come and go so quickly. Might be gone by then unfortunately. The trailer looks fun.

You should be able to check the theater's website for specific dates to see if it's playing.

Re: UHD release announcements

So Lionsgate and Quentin Tarantino have joined forces and Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 will most likely be released this year. Jackie Brown is also forthcoming, but not yet officially announced.

Lionsgate said today it’s partnered with Quentin Tarantino for distribution rights to three of the director’s iconic films – Kill Bill Volumes I & II and Jackie Brown.

Beginning with Reservoir Dogs, a Lionsgate library favorite for nearly 20 years, “we’ve grown what is now Hollywood’s largest portfolio of Tarantino films to include Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight and Death Proof in addition to the movies we just picked up,” said CEO Jon Feltheimer on the company’s post-earning conference call.

Awesome news. I hope they look as good as the Reservoir Dogs 4k. And Hateful 8 looked great in 4k on Netflix.

I actually saw this movie in the theater when it came out. It gets tedious near the end but damn, it has some great small parts in it. The anti-cliche super-nice police chief, "Heed!", and the Alcatraz Vicky roll-eyes scene make it almost worth a purchase. Plus, the coffee shop, poem stuff is so 90's nostalgia.

All that being said...I think I can live without it.

And H8 on Netflix was only 4K SDR, so I assume the disc will get DV/HDR.

Re: UHD release announcements

One Piece Film Red (UK 4K UHD release via Anime Limited). It will likely be officially announced sometime tomorrow.

Crunchyroll has the license for North America. 4K UHD hasn't been announced yet (Blu-ray only release: July 11).

4K UHD LE is available for pre-order on Amazon Japan, but it's country/region locked (currently not available in the U.S.) https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B0C651W3H2

Crunchyroll has license in North America. If 4K UHD gets released, it probably won't be in 2023.

Yeah, it's fucking ridiculous. It's been, like, twenty years and we still haven't gotten TWBA. Don't know if there's some legal/contractual snag that prevents its release.

I'm also pissed that we never got Scream uncut released to DVD/blu-ray/4K. It only showed up on LD and VHS in the late 1990s.

There was an uncut DVD version some years ago. I believe it was a German import disc I bought.
