I believe if it's over a certain length (maybe 15 minutes, as DJariya says), then SAG rules dictate they need to be paid, and you can't waive that with a contract.

Target I want to didn't have any digibooks, but I was happy to get the normal one anyway since I decided I like normal cases better these days and packaging no longer means much to me.

Looking forward to watching the extended version sometime this weekend.

Received my copies today, one for me and the other for my aunt. I got one of each, so she's getting the SUPERMAN one

I believe the cutoff is 30 minutes. Beyond that, the work is considered a "documentary" and the participants need to be paid. Shorter, and it's a promotional duty mandated in the actors' contracts.

I've seen more than a few discs that have broken up long documentaries into multi-part "featurettes" in order to keep each individual piece under half an hour. I forget the movie, but the most egregious example broke up a 35-minute piece into 30-minute and 5-minute segments.

That I did not know. Thank you.

Re: Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice - 7/19

I almost picked up both the steelbook and the 3D edition—$60 for one move and steel packaging. Ultimately I decided on the 3D edition because it contained all the versions I wanted: Extended, Theatrical, Digital Copy and of course, 3D. But I am oddly remorseful that I didn't buy the steelbook. Man, this can be a sick, sick habit! But I've decided to start clearing out duplicates in favor of other titles. There's too many titles in my collection where I have the 3D version with lenticular slipcovers and the steelbook as well or the digibook and steelbook versions.

I think Mission Impossible Rogue Nation was like that, especially the Target version with the exclusive content. If I remember correctly, all of the features were split up into 5 - 10 min chunks.

Watched the 3hr version and was kinda surprised about the R rating. Didn't really seem violent enough to justify that.

Re: Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice - 7/19

Okay, for those disappointed they missed out on the steelbook, my Best Buy received a restock. Oddly, they are keeping them at the customer service area because of theft! Most have the Superman side of the steelbook on the front but the sets are identical. They just flipped the steelbook to vary the packaging appearance in order to appeal to different tastes. There's no such thing as a Batman or Superman version of the steelbook unless you never plan to open it. It will be interesting to see if these end up filling store shelves for awhile. I think they held back stock to make it appear far more scarce in order to support the higher price point longer. I ended up buying it. Why? Hell if I know, I need psychiatric help. I already own the 3D release so I paid $30 for a piece of metal.

I finally watched the Extended Edition over the weekend and agree...I'm not sure what was added that justified the "R". I did notice the use of the "F-bomb" in one scene, but I can't remember if that was in the PG-13 version too (and after sitting through the 3-hour extended, I had no intention of sitting through the theatrical again).

I do think the extended is better...if only because it clears up some things that didn't make sense in the theatrical version (like Superman just "disappearing" after the capitol explosion...the longer cut has him bringing out injured people).

The major problems with the film were still there but, the extended version did flow better and seemed less poorly edited. I gotta say that I actually liked the movie this time around and look forward to more DC films.

Well, there were the head shots in the desert scene and blood splatter on the wall. That will get an auto R-rating. Add that to the other violence and there you go. However, with some editing, they could've (and should've) still released this version to theaters.

I thought the blood spatter on the wall was in the theatrical? I could be wrong.

There was additional wall splatter - mainly during the Batman warehouse fight.

I was thinking where the guy's thrown up against the wall in the warehouse. Again, I could go look at the theatrical...I'm just too lazy. Still, nothing in that scene that couldn't pass for PG-13, IMO.

The Best Buy DOTD is the graphic novel version for $25 ($15 off)

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/batman-v...?skuId=5190801

I have a couple of the graphic novel bundles from the animated movies and they are really nice. If I didn't pick up the 3D version, this is the one I would have gotten.

I refuse to watch the theater version again but I will check to see, didn't think there was, but I could be wrong.

I just checked my VUDU copy...nope, not there when the guy hits the wall in the theatrical version - so it's been added digitally in the extended.

To my experience, China, Taiwan, and Korea are also in the same region as Japan and the USA. I have purchased BluRays from all of those countries, for what that's worth.

Yes, the 3D version is on sale for $19.99 and the steel book is on sale for $16.99. I just got refunded $24.96. So that is a big relief since I was silly enough to buy both! It pays to be an Elite Rewards Member... funneling most purchases to Best Buy has really paid off for me!

Re: Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice - 7/19

Just watched BvS in 4K.

I could see improvement, but super improvement until the IMAX parts kicked in.
-Fight at the end was looking incredible in 4K, clear and blacks tones where perfect.

I want to become President of the World and order everyone to film ALL scenes in 4K.

So 3D is theatrical only? What about 4K?

Only the theatrical cut is 3D. The extended cut was not given a full 3D conversion.

The UHD release of the film contains the extended cut in 4k and the theatrical cut in 1080p.
