I wonder why the Best Buy steelbook has 3 disks. DVDs maybe?

No, that's just the blu, blu of special features, and DVD.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
little disappointing. might get Target actually and try to get over my SteelBook™ obsession...

The other steelbooks are Fox releases. Disney probably doesn't care about consistency with those releases.

So no Maz deleted scene?
The X-wings and snow speeder deleted scenes seem interesting. Still not sure if will get digital or BD. If iTunes copy is only 720p and not 1080p, I might wait for the BD. |

Perhaps they are considering another theatrical run in IMAX theaters or something of the sort.

Checked agian, iTunes now says 1080p. Great.
Does the iTunes copy have the deleted scenes included, though? |

One thing I hate with all these different editions is not having consistent packaging. I'd like to get the Target edition for the bonus content but would prefer just a standard case.

I just wonder if Eps 8 and 9, not to mention Rogue One will get similar packaging? |

Looking like Target for me, unless the store exclusive content is digital download only. In that case, they can stick up their ass.

I have the Target exclusive Spectre, Into Darkness (Which I may sell, if anyone wants it, when I buy The Experience), and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. They were all disc-based. |
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Wait, what? DMR instead of DMA?
Oh, never mind, you mean redeeming it through the app instead of the site. You know you can go back and redeem the same code through the app again to unlock the bonus content, right? :) I had to do the same thing with The Good Dinosaur and Inside Out. |

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Weird, it let me use both codes on the app on my phone again after originally redeeming them through the website. And the bonus content is now listed under Exclusive Video in the app under the movies. Did you try again recently?
|
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Well, I'll be -- the website didn't work, but the app (which I didn't even realize had the capability to redeem codes) did indeed unlock that exclusive bonus content. Thanks!

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
I'm guessing BB will have a shit ton of the steelbooks in store (or at least more than usual), but I'd just as well want to avoid whatever crowd there may be, so I'll just order it from the site rather than go to the store.
(pretty sure the Target bonus content will be off-disc/online) |

Not sure if I trust that e-mail fully (could be that whoever wrote it was just making an assumption) but it points toward a disc. We won't know for sure until someone gets their hands on one, or it's officially confirmed. |

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
I pre-ordered the Best Buy steelbook the moment pre-orders went up on Best Buy's site. Knowing how fast Marvel steelbooks go, I didn't want to miss out.
And yes, I will be double dipping as all signs point to a full-blown special edition release coming out towards the holidays. |
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Content over case for me. I'll probably be ordering the Target edition once the $5 GC comes back in play Sunday.
|
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
How does Target ship stuff out?
I might pick up The Force Awakens and Game of Thrones season five from their website, but feat they're going to put them in an envelope or something else and they'll get the shit beat out of them by the time they get to my house. |
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Bubble mailer. I would imagine Game of Thrones will ship in a box though.

I'd prefer that over the ugly Steelbook. I'll probably try to score at least one of these in store in addition to the one being mailed to me. Then return one of them with the store receipt. Hopefully there will be as many of these as there has been of those Hunger Games exclusives. |
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
There was some back and forth on Facebook the last couple of days on whether the TARGET bonus content was disc or digital. Some Target reps were saying it was a disc, some were saying it was digital. They posted this today:
Thanks for the opportunity to clear things up for you. The exclusive content will be digital content. We apologize for any confusion and hope that this information will clear things up for you. |
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
In that case I'm just grab the standard edition from whoever has it the cheapest. No interest in digital content or steelbooks.
|
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Fuck Best Buy and Target and their pillaging of physical media, I'm just gonna wait for the ST box set and stream it in the meantime if I feel like watching it.
Hopefully down the road at some point there will be an ep 1-9 box set with the unaltered OT. |

Thanks for asking! Yes, this is correct. The exclusive content will be digital content, and not on a disc. We apologize for any confusion. |
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
TFA = Disney
Target seems to have this "bonus content" system working really well though DMA and will poissibly never go back to bonus discs for Disney releases. I would prefer a disc, but since I log all my Disney movies on DMA anyway, I don't mind this practice as much as I would if it was UV. |
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Ugh, really don't want to deal with digital content like that.
I may grab the steelbook if the price seems ok, or maybe just a plain version from somewhere else. |
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
so this DMA for the Target version...that can only be streamed on a PC, not TV?
