Mine arrived from Amazon this morning. Not too shabby. Not that upset over the case. I watched all the extras so that disc is on the bottom.

I got my regular bluray case version at Target, and I noticed that the exclusive packaging version wasn't selling as well (of course, the price is most likely the reason, but I like to think the shitty packaging was the reason haha)

Is there a reason this isnt available as a streaming rental yet? I want to give it another try, but cant bring myself to buy it just yet.

Cause it's Star Wars. I doubt it'll ever be available for rental. The other 6 have never been available for rental, so I doubt they'll start now.

Vudu says it'll be for rent on May 4th. I never noticed the others weren't available for rent not that I'd want them- I've just noticed you can't play the first 2 minutes of them for free like other movies, so you can't see how they took out the Fox intros.

Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason they didn't include the previews.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016

Just watched it tonight and enjoyed it but no way is it demo-worthy. The bass is off in certain spots. I picked up "silent bass" spots in the beginning where one of the flame troopers sprays fire all over the place; and there was no bass/low end. There are also plenty of explosions that don't have that added kick. It's strange. At first I thought maybe my receiver switched to night time listening but it's fine. The picture quality is reference, though.

My BR of the movie was floating around in the package, watched it and it's fine. Gonna just give away the DVD and put the BR of the film in its spot. Then put the bonus BR on the flappy two-sided thing.

Had to turn the volume way up on the TV, but still awesome. Hoping this 70-minute documentary is good.

Can't believe there isn't a commentary track from JJ. Total fucking bullshit there.

I'm guessing the 3D release will have it.

Or not.

Not streaming, but... Redbox machines have it.

We had to turn up the sound way up too, but I've noticed that for the last few Blurays we've watched (Hobbit theatrical versions particularly). I'm beginning to wonder if I set the dynamic range compression on the player or something, I need to get in there and fiddle around with it.

But it looked great, and it holds up on repeat viewings.

Watch the blu-ray last night and the picture were very good. Sound should have been a little louder I agreed. Bonus material were all right like anyone said should have included the trailers and maybe a gag or blooper reels.

I had to crank the audio 4 more clicks on my receiver. I thought something was wrong with my equipment.

Gotta save stuff for the boxset.

One of the best VQ I have ever seen on my Samsung 55 Inch HDTV.

Several times I felt I was watching a 4k Movie.

Can someone explain the digital code to me? Does that let me download a digital copy of the movie that I can put on my phone and watch offline while I'm traveling or whatever? Or does it just enable me to stream it through an app?

You can stream the movie via Disney Movies Anywhere.

I believe they can be watched on Vudu or Amazon as well as the Disney Movies Anywhere app.

I think the code also lets you get an Itunes copy as well.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016

If you redeem through Disney Movie rewards (which I highly suggest everyone does when redeeming Disney releases), the digital will port to both UV and iTunes. And while the extras didn't port over to Vudu, they did on DMA iTunes. The Vudu and DMA app will allow streaming and downloading. Probably the others as well.

So if I can play it on Vudu, I can actually download it? I want to be able to put it on my phone so I can watch it on a plane while travelling or somewhere where I do not have access to wi-fi.

Looks like you can. I see the option to download in the iOS app.

hanshotfirst1138 04-07-16 04:29 PM

The iOS version of Vudu and iTunes let you download it.

What did everyone think of the 70-minute documentary?

I assume it's pretty good, being that it's the only big bonus feature in the set.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016

It's just okay. Nothing super in-depth and a little too self congratulatory for my taste. I'd have loved to see more fly-on-the-wall stuff like we got from The Phantom Menace documentary.

They never delve into any of the behind-the-scenes drama like Ford's injury and Lucas walking away from his role as creative consultant. There is a brief mention of Fisher having difficulty on set. Either some digital trickery was done or the majority of her part got re-shot, because all the on-set footage shows Leia with a giant ponytail draped over her left shoulder.

I'd say it's bullshit fluff. A glorified EPK reel.

Finally watched it. I enjoyed it a lot. I wish they'd gone for about a 2-hour doc with all the material they had. The 70 minutes just flies by.

Also think the table read featurette should have been quite a bit longer.

Did anyone pick up the BB8 cover from wm? If so how much was it compared to the regular version? Went to 5 Walmarts and they all had the giant BB8 display and the falcon display, but never found the exclusive version.

It was $19.99, same as regular. It was kind of weird with BB8 kind of popping out in a fold out cover, held shut with Velcro. Unfolding it like a Christmas card to show a view of good guys on one side, bad guys on the other. You didn't miss much

I found it very disappointing. Not one single mention or hint about Harrison's leg break on the set. It's a complete puff piece. The Deleted scenes are disappointing as well. Both of those are why I still haven't finished watching the rest of the Features. From what I can tell just a whole lot of meh.

Wasn't there enough coverage about his accident? You would probably want to see actual footage if they were filming.

So on Amazon Fire Stick, it just has the normal special features, but I have another TV with Roku built in, and on that one I can watch the exclusive features. Not sure why they would have different content on different platforms.
