Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
There was a line of about 40 people outside BB this morning. Very organized, people were cool, nobody rushing or being a dick.
|
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
I was at BB at lunch. There were tons of steelbooks. My desire for uniformity in my Star Wars collection + $5 Disney Coupon + $5 Reward Cert swung me that way. Still have a the regular edition coming from Target tomorrow, which I will probably return.

No, it's cheap, flimsy paper sleeves - a digi-pack without an outer cover. And the exclusive bonus is online only.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Well, the photo/artwork is kinda cool, if you're into that sort of thing.
[size] Spoiler:
But it does look like taking out the discs would be a pain. |
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Yeah, I'm glad I went with the standard packaging. The few steelbooks I have were picked up because that's the version I happened to find or was available, so I wasn't dying to have it.
I hit my local Best Buy at lunch and there were a lot of copies of the regular and steelbook. |
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Picked up the regular version at Best Buy today. There were a ton of steelbooks available but I couldn't justify paying an extra $8 for uglier cover art and the exact same disc content.
I guess these steelbooks will be about as "limited" as the other Star Wars steelbooks that Best Buy can't seem to give away since they had them at every turn and on every end cap throughout the store. |
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
I'm very happy that Disney went the distance and had an extra disc full of extras, but why would they omit the trailers??? They were awesome.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Thinking of grabbing the steelbook and hoping the price on it dips in the next 30 days. Not sure though.

Woo hoo! New era!!
I'm fairly certain we'll get a set with Episodes 7-9, then another saga set with all 9 episodes. Then probably another one for the anthology movies. They won't ever stop. |

I think I'm going to hold out for the 3D version later this year. I didn't catch the movie in theaters, so waiting a little longer isn't going to kill me. I just picked up the saga from GoHasting for cheap, so that will keep me entertained for now. |

I can't believe that either. I was hoping all the trailers would be included with the BR extras.

Not really a fan of the way that the case only holds two discs and the Blu-ray's are stacked on top of each other. I could have sworn I saw a review where the case had a double sided flap and then the third disc on the case itself.

Where did you buy yours? I just opened mine at work to make sure it was ok inside and two of the discs are on a swingarm and the DVD is on the back hub.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Swingarm here. Got mine at Disney store.
Yours sounds like how the movies I get from disney movie club are, they are always stacked. |
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Got the swingarm from Amazon.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Target - Swing Arm
|
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Amazon swing arm and free real working lightsaber!
|
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
That Target exclusive packaging is indeed terrible. I would have picked it up if it was one of those new slick diamondlux cases with the magnets. Or even a sturdy digibook like the Hunger Games exclusives. But it's just a flimsy thick paper foldout with no slipcover to keep it intact once the shrink wrap has been removed. The online bonus content isn't worth the upcharge when the regular case is the far better option. :obefrank-

Odd that I'm the only one so far with a different style case. I guess its whatever but I would have preferred the swingarm case.

I read on blu-ray-dot-com that you can tell which case it is before you buy it. The stacker case has an embossed blu-ray logo on top, and the swinger has a flat blu-ray logo. You can also probably tell by shaking the case; the swing arm will rattle around a bit. |
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Amazon. DVD on left hub, both blus together on right hub.

glad the extras disc is a blu
|
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Cheap ass Disney has been doing the stacked discs for awhile. The Good Dinosaur had discs stacked on one of the hubs and the other disc on the opposite hub.
|
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
I got the shitty stacker case. Though nothing beats Soap: The Complete Series, which was like 10 fucking DVDs on a SPINDLE in a crappy paper case.
|
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Little disappointed in the extras as there are no trailers either.
In the end it's the movie that matters and I'm looking forward to watching this countless times. |

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Yeah, it was pretty shitty - I transferred them to empty BD/Slim cases.
|
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Got the stack packaging. It seems that the thing about the embossed logo being on the stack packaging vs the flat logo having the regular packaging is right.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Swung by Best Buy after work. Hundreds of Steelbooks. Don't like the cover at all. Probably good for those who got thw other SW Steelbooks, but meh for the rest of us. Still waiting to see the Target thing. Wish it was more durable. Might hang onto it anyways and keep it next to the 9 disc set. I'll still get the 3D version eventually for a proper case.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016
Just got back from a trip to Target. Holy hell is that exclusive packaging they have terrible. Damn thing rivals An Inconvenient Truth DVD as worst packaging ever!
