Interesting lack of source for the statement since others are reporting that BD will only have 7.1.

Will this be in stores? These days, brick & mortars don't tend to stock the newer double-dips, especially when they still have a bunch of the original on hand.

it's listed at my local Best Buy as in-stock so there's that. however, price is $29.99. also, listed at my local Target for in-store pickup @ $19.99, but limited quantities...

I've heard confirmation that the UHD has Atmos. Have not heard about the regular Blu-ray.

Fox stated in the past that it considers Atmos a UHD exclusive feature.

The rear cover art was posted in this thread a couple days ago, but that post was deleted (as was my response to it? What the hell?)

Yup, you're right. Based on pack shots and reports from that other forum, UHD has Atmos. Blu-ray has 7.1 only.

So has anyone actually watch the extended cut to be able to comment on whether it's worthwhile?

Posted by Kronos on Bluray.com

An extra scene of Damon getting up and checking his staples before he makes coffee and counts the rations.

A slightly longer scene of him making his potato plan.

An extra scene of Annie and Vincent discussion his press conference, part of this is on the extras of the original disc.

A longer scene where they first activate pathfinder, the guy working the computer is more of an ass

Extended scene where Teddy and crew talk about a felcher.

Extra scene after Mark repairs the hab of him checking for leaks.

Extra scene at JPL where Rich asks his boss for super computer time.

Big extra scene of Mark finishing the mission experiments.

Small scene of Lewis txting Mark that they are coming back for him.

Extra scene on the drive to Ares4 where Mark has an inflated room to use.

Scenes on the Hermes of them practicing for intercepting the Ares4, also an extended scene where Beck talks about Mark probably being injured when they catch him.

Yeah, it only makes up about 10 mins. I'm assuming most people are more interested in the extra content than the longer cut of the movie.

Personally I'm equally interested in both. But admittedly I don't have to weigh if it's worth buying again. If anybody already has the first release it's a tougher call.

I am a lot more interested in extras. When I saw the lack of extras with the first release, I definitely held off on buying.

Found the extended edition today at Best Buy for $14.99

Also includes $7.50 Fandango Movie Cash towards Miss Peregrines home for Peculiar Children or The Birth of a Nation.

That's a great deal. I picked it up right away.

Just came here to post the same thing. I wasn't going to double dip, but since I was going to see the Burton film anyway, for essentially $8, I figured why not?

BTW :The Movie Cash version doesn't have the slipcover, but they were cool with me swapping over the previous Extended Edition slipcover on the Movie Cash edition

Are any of the little extras I'd lose on the regular version interesting, or do you basically get most of what you need from the new extended cut?

Re: The Martian - 1/12/16

Does anyone know why the digital copy of the extended edition on Vudu, at least, have the hour + long making of doc at only 25 minutes? Why wouldn’t they put whole thing? Sometimes they can be broken up into parts on Vudu, but this is just 1 25 minute part as near as I can tell...
