Once Upon A Time in Hollywood Blu-ray and 4K Dec 10, 2019
Maybe the last big movie from 2019 worth buying before the year ends.
https://highdefdiscnews.com/2019/10/...k-and-blu-ray/
The 2019 Quentin Tarantino film “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on December 10th, via Sony. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Emile Hirsch, Margaret Qualley, Timothy Olyphant, Julia Butters, Dakota Fanning, Bruce Dern, and Al Pacino. Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. Both the standard 4K and Blu-ray versions will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting the Blu-ray counterpart, the Bu-ray getting the DVD counterpart and each getting a digital code (copy) of the film.
The film is now available to preorder on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc (in standard releases) over at Amazon. There will also be a very cool retro “Collector’s Edition“ of the film released on 4K UHD Blu-ray (pictured below) which will include the physical extras like a 45rpm vinyl single of “Rick Dalton” music, a collectible MAD Magazine from 1969, and a fictional movie poster (starring “Rick Dalton”) in very beautiful packaging. This collector’s edition is now available for preorder over at Amazon.
There will be a total of three retail exclusives for the film on the home video release. First off, there will be a 4K UHD Blu-ray Steelbook available exclusively over at retailer Best Buy (pictured below) which is now available for preorder.
Next, there will be an exclusive Blu-ray in Magazine style available over at the retailer Target (pictured below) which is now available for preorder.
Lastly, there will be an exclusive Blu-ray that includes 5 postcards (pictured below) available over at retailer Walmart which is not yet available for preorder.

Wait $39.99 for the Best Buy 4K Exclusive Steelbook? What the holy hell is that price?

Not surprised. No extended cut and no QT8 documentary. I fully expect the QT8 film to get it's own separate release. The extended cut was just put into theatres last week.
Here's the bonus material according to the press release

I saw the QT8 documentary last week in the theatre. It's a solid film. Never expected them to put it on the extras here because it's 2 hours long. But there's a lot of good interviews and stories on it.
It's going to get it's own separate release most likely.

Honestly, I'm kind of tired of QT and his stuff. I liked the film, not great, but miles better than his previous effort. There's enough of the old docs on his older movies, I don't need any more of him. I kind of hope he does call it after this or his next. His movies will endure, but his personality always hits a line with me that less is more with him.

Will any of these releases include the theatrical cut? I assume so but it's not clear as the press releases mention twenty minutes of additional footage.

Best Buy exclusive Steelbooks usually don't. But this is priced higher than any previous single feature release (besides John Wick 3 Bundle that came with a min-Steelbook).

On the contrary, the way I read the release info, this is the theatrical cut. The "twenty minutes of additional footage" is in the form of special/bonus features (a.k.a. several deleted scenes whose combined running time adds up to 20 min).
Of course I could be wrong, but that's my take.

BTW : None of those numerous editions posted above are the Amazon Collector's Edition.
That version seems to be the coolest.
It might be worth $55 just for the Mad Magazine.
I have no idea why the Best Buy Steelbook decided to focus so much on Cliff Booth's dog. It was a strange design choice to say the least. Still I will be going with that one as I don't hate it.

As mattysemo247 pointed out, the CE is currently part of Target's B2G1 sale. The hard part would be finding other box sets that are at all close to $50-$60 range to make the B2G1 deal worth it.

Theoretically one could order three copies of the CE now and then after it ships, return two unopened copies at a prorated discount at their local Target, leaving one copy at a price of around $40. In theory....

Actually, that looks like the same CE that's been mentioned previously as for sale from Target and Amazon.

In theory, you order three copies and then immediately cancel two of them. In theory...

I wonder how many will be destroyed because Amazon will ship them in bubble mailers.
