Having seen the individual regular size keep cases, anybody else think the outer box looks overly large? Maybe there is going to be a bunch of non-disc extras included as well.

Indeed. The box looks at least two times the size that it needs to be.

I have a feeling they will re-release them soon or when the new series hits blu-ray.

$150 is a good price, I just wish I had the money right now to buy it. It will just have to go on my ever expanding wishlist.

Picked this up on bestbuy.com for $9.99 as soon as the Complete Series set was announced. It would be stupid for Fox to keep the films out of print with the set and the new series coming out so that is most likely what they will do.

They really should have just included the films in the set. Its silly that they didn't and probably my main complaint with it but whatever. It seems like a lot of these complete series sets where the series has a film the studios don't include the film for whatever reason. The 66 Batman series didn't include Batman: The Movie either (although that may have been more of a rights issue as Fox owns the film outright).

Opportunity wasted where they could have remastered both films. Or at the very least reissue the first movie. Cause the price of it today....

I still have my Fight The Future BD. I don't care enough about the second film to own it.

I like the second film. Reminds me some Silence Of The Lambs meets an X-Files episode from seasons 5 or 6.

Is it possible that the movies may be (as of yet) unlisted "extras" in the box set?

Yeah, but that's the double pack, TOTALLY different. Ha, yeah I know the double pack is cheap, I just got a laugh that the single release is that price. Of course the EBay prices have it selling at around $9.99.

I remember feeling very disappointed with it. It would have been a fine episode, but we waited how many years for that to be the movie? Maybe if they had been doing movies every few years, some advancing the story and others being one-offs, it would have been taken better.

There have been unconfirmed rumors over the years that I WANT TO BELIEVE was actually an idea Chris Carter had for MILLENNIUM, but never got to use. The storyline certainly seems more MILLENNIUM than X-FILES. No one was more affected than Carter - not long after the movie hit screens, he went into the hospital for "exhaustion", but it was more like depression...the rejection of that film hit him hard - fortunately he's gotten a chance to redeem himself.

The X-Files ended with Mulder and Scully on the lam, facing an impending alien invasion and colonization.

The movie that followed it featured a kidde-diddling priest with visions and Russians doing head transplants on dogs.

I wonder how anyone thought that was a good idea?

Well, it's Chris Carter. Look at what he did to the last four seasons of the TV show. I wonder how anyone thought anything that happened in those was a good idea.

I don't dislike I Want to Believe, but then I didn't pay to see it in theaters. It plays better at home, like an episode of the series. The plot was no goofier than any given monster-of-the-week episode. What I liked about it is that it provided a nice grace note of closure for the Mulder and Scully characters, who'd been treated so badly by that unwatchable series finale.

I've always heard the second movie was made from an unfilmed television script meant to be a two-parter written sometime between seasons 4-6 of the X-Files.

It's tempting to preorder at that price but I'm holding off to see what the foreign options bring as far as packaging and price.

Same here. I paid that much for S1 back in the DVD days. At this price, it's a goddamn steal.

There isnt going to be a bonus disc of extras is there? I would love to get it eventually but might only be able to buy the seasons individually, as long as each season has the original dvd extras included, and I dont reall care about the collectors box.

Which dvds though? The big, original, 7 disc sets, or the newer skinny 6 disc set versions?

Don't they have the same extras? They were just working with better compression technology later, being able to squeeze everything into 6 discs instead of 7.

Not all of the special features from the original fat sets made it to the newer DVD sets.

Re: X-Files Collector's Box Set - 12/8/15

Anybody remember the smaller DVD collection exclusives? The Mythology collections had an exclusive or two. I remember considering dropping the full season sets in favor of the Mythology sets given I would usually go right to those episodes in a marathon. Would be nice if those exclusive features were thrown into the mix given there is plenty of room on the BD's
