Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Oh wow! A rated R version of my favorite movie in their pantheon? Hell yes, though what got me was the violence in the original. I mean heads sliced off? Don't see that too much in these animated movies...

Wonder Woman probably features the best script of any animated DC film.

Spoiler:
Yep...hopefully I have a Target perk by then, I think I'm only 500 points away. And I'm not wasting my time pre-ordering either (and chancing a dented steelbook), I'll simply use the DPCI number in Brickseek and find my copy on release day.

I also have a perk as well. I guess I'll save it for this one.

The original story from the early 80's was good. I'm sure they changed a few things around with the animated version.

Think I'll pre-order the Steelbook for The Judas Contract. Chances are I'll be able to find it in stores but don't want to chance it.

Yeah I saw that. Only thing that kind of kills the deal is that with tax and shipping it's like $22 and change. If I can find something else to add on to at least get to $25 at least the shipping is free.

You should get a Red Card, not only do you get 5% off everything in store and online, you also always get free shipping online.

Seconded. Apply for debit or credit card, same benefits. Also adds 30 days to your return privileges.

I'm done with preordering steelbooks from Target. Their shipping is horrible. I had to return 4 out of the last 5 and then scramble to find one in a store.

Alternatively, you can just add something else to your order. You can always return the other item in-store if you don't want it.

I ordered La La Land (Target Exclusive Content) + $5 GC for $19.99. I'm still leaning towards the Best Buy Steelbook version, but I'm not sure which I will keep at this point.

Were the Steelbooks crushed? I haven't had problems from Target (I have had issues with Best Buy Steelbooks).
I just like hedging my bets. I still try to grab a copy in-store on release date, but sometimes it's not easy, so knowing an easily-returnable copy is in the mail is a nice back-up plan

Some were crushed with huge dents and one of them had the top half bent to a 10 degree angle. I'm not even sure if it was done from the post office or if they were just sent that way from the warehouse. I figured that I can be at the store when it opens anyways so I might as well do that instead of ordering it. There's enough Target's in the area that I've never had a problem with getting their exclusives.

I've thought about it but I've been waiting to make a big purchase because I think there's a higher percent incentive off of your first purchase.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Kevin Conroy is going to be voicing Batman again in an upcoming film. I'm definitely interested due to the return to the Batman: The Animated Series style. It'd be great to get more animated features in that style starring Conroy and any of the classic voice cast.

‘Batman and Harley Quinn’ Cast, Characters, and Story Details Revealed

by Dave Trumbore  April 3, 2017

After the world premiere of Teen Titans: The Judas Contract over the weekend during Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Wondercon 2017 presentation, fans of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies line can look forward to checking out the anticipated film on Digital HD tomorrow, and on Blu-ray/DVD starting April 18th. Now that that’s on your calendar, you can look ahead to the year’s third animated feature from DC Entertainment: Batman and Harley Quinn!

The new film, due out this summer through digital download, Blu-ray and DVD, will return to a style made famous by Batman: The Animated Series and animator/co-creator Bruce Timm, who will also act as executive producer on the new feature. And a report from Empire also confirms the film’s cast, characters, and basic story, which will team up Batman, Nightwing, and the title character and fan-favorite, Harley Quinn.

Here’s a look at the characters you can expect to see in Batman and Harley Quinn and the talents who will be voicing them:
•Batman – Kevin Conroy returns to the role he made famous.
•Harley Quinn – Melissa Rauch (The Big Bang Theory) will be performing the other title role.
•Nightwing – Loren Lester also returns to voice the character he brought to life on Batman: The Animated Series.
•Poison Ivy – Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) goes to the villainous side of things after voicing Lana Lang and Lois Lane in previous animated DC movies.

We’ll see the trio take on Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue, a.k.a. The Floronic Man, a.k.a. Plant-Master, who are out to cause a global catastrophe, as per usual. This seems like a fun lineup of heroes and villains alike, but fans are likely curious about Rauch’s addition as Harley:

“I love that Harley is a badass and, beyond that, that she uses her humor as another weapon in her arsenal,” comments Rauch. “She knows just how to diffuse a situation with her humor, and how to incite a situation with her sarcasm. It’s a dream role.

“I knew Harley had a higher pitched tone, and a bit of a New York accent — and I come from a New Jersey family where everyone could be former gun molls. So I wanted to give a nod to my background without being as shrill. In all honesty, I used to speak exactly like that — my acting school professors really worked the accent out of me. So it was fun to find those tones and accent again.”

Further commenting on the story, Lester said, “[W]e’re not restricted by the networks for this film, so we can take the story and characters in more mature areas, and explore more about them as three-dimensional human beings with human feelings and human desires that we often couldn’t explore in the series.” There’s no word yet on the possible rating for the film, but additional cast members include: John DiMaggio, Eric Bauza, Rob Paulsen, Robin Atkin Downes, Mindy Sterling, and Trevor Devall. [Update: Empire’s earlier write up listed a specific character for DiMaggio, which has now been removed. We’ll update our story with more information as it becomes available.]

Keep your eyes peeled for Batman and Harley Quinn later this summer!

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I'll really miss Arleen Sorkin doing Harley. Always did an awesome job. I used to watch her on Days Of Our Lives a very long time ago. Her and the guy that eventually played Q on ST TNG did made an awesome comic duo.

I think Rauch could be a good choice. She has a very distinct voice that I can imagine working for Harley. Wonder why they didn't bring back Sorkin though.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Looks like a fun time. My only minor nitpick is that the animation is more in the style of The New Batman Adventures than Batman: The Animated Series. I tend to like the original designs more but anytime we get close to going back into that universe (sounds like it's more of a spiritual sequel movie than a true sequel) I'm excited. Rauch sounds okay as Harley from that clip. She puts a bit of her own spin on it but it isn't too far off from what I'd expect Harley to sound like. Its cool that they got both Conroy and Lester back as Batman and Nightwing respectively.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

So how long is it before Harley Quinn gets added to the Justice League's roster?

I'm not sure what it says about comics in the 90s that its two most influential characters from that period are Harley Quinn and Deadpool.
