No, I think the price guarantee applies to everybody.

I've always wondered this... so if the price drops to, say $80, even for a few minutes, and I have pre-ordered it, I will get it for $80 regardless of how high the price gets?

I believe yes that's how it works.

That's correct, and you don't have to be a Prime member for the lowest price guarantee.

...except this week when Amazon is seemingly having a sale on many of them. Or when they magically pop up on Groupon.

Yeah but this is the first time in a while I recall a bunch being on sale. Occasionally a random one pops up for a decent deal, but other than that the last sale on them I remember was when Scream Factory had them on sale on their site last October.

So...I should wait, or just buy it outright? I mean, it is a limited edition.

That's what the company is calling it. Are they trying to pull a fast one?

Maybe, though remember there's also a 10-disc set so it could this "Limited" set, once sold out, they'll just keep producing the other one...

Seriously? Have you never bought a Blu-ray or DVD before? Studios use terms like Collectors or Limited Edition often and it doesn't always necessarily mean anything or that they're trying to pull a fast one. Scream Factory hasn't said anything about it being limited as to how many they're making, but I would guess they only have the license for some of the films in the box set for a certain time period.

I ordered Phantom of the Paradise through the and got the lowest price anywhere. Shipping took about 5 days, though.

Yes. Ask them how that "Limited Freaks and Geeks Yearbook" set worked out. Spoiler - they lied to fans.

If it's "Limited" and it makes them money, they will find a way to re-release it. Same thing is happening now with the Breaking Bad barrel set. Nothing is limited to exclusive to studios who need money.

But, other stuff goes out of print all the time. How much will a This is Spinal Tap (Criterion) DVD or The Man Who Fell to Earth (Criterion) Blu ray set you back if you buy a brand new copy?

I've collected movies for a long time, and I'm never quite sure what to believe. It's like playing the stock market.

If the market is big enough, a movie release is always limited to how many they can sell. Limited stuff that goes out of print and shoots up in price usually come from ultra-niche releases that are not big sellers in the first place, and the label underestimated demand.

Still keeping my pre-order with Amazon. Hopefully the price goes down a little more before it's released on the 23rd.

I'm excited especially to see the Producer's Cut and new material on H20.

I only wish I could get a decent amount of money for the Halloween stuff I own already to help offset the costs.

Get what you can and just think of it as a rebate and some extra shelf space.

It's tempting, but if I buy it I know it'll be $50 within six months. I'd normally toftt of you waiters, but I think I'll live with my dozens of Halloween dvds and BDs and wait this one out.

I really doubt it gets that low that fast. It might drop to $85-$100 after some time, but even for it to drop that far I don't see happening too soon. This isn't some obscure franchise but one of the biggest slasher series of all time. That coupled with it being a Scream Factory release my guess is it stays high for a while.

I can't find the source right now but recall reading somewhere Shout Factory indicated the Deluxe edition isn't strictly limited but that if you wanted to reliably get a copy of these collections then it'd be best to order one this year. I think that was from Facebook comments.

Exactly. Which is why I am fine with paying the $95 I got mine for. Warner prices tend to fall pretty good but look at their Friday The 13th set. It has remained around the same price since it was released. And this Halloween set has even more rights junk involved in it than the Friday The 13th movies.
