I read at another forum that the 2D doesn't come with a slip.

Yeah, the standard 2D blu doesn't have a slip. I got mine in the mail yesterday from Disney Movie Club and it didn't have one, so I was also curious, but I saw shelves of them at Target and BB today and none of them had a slip.

I picked up my pre-order this morning maybe half an hour after the store opened. The check out girl told me a bunch of dudes bum rushed the display and bought out their stock of steelbooks.

Ah, just seems lame not to include it. Not a big deal.

No. Not including a slipcover is pretty much the Blu-ray holocaust.

Re: Thor: The Dark World - 2/25/14

Once I saw the posts this morning that there weren't many steelbooks per store I went ahead and ordered one for in-store pickup. 3 BBs here in town and only 1 had any left at that point. By the time I got in to pick my copy up there were none left in any of the displays... I could see the rack for in-store pickup and a few other people had thought to order ahead.

I bought a Steelbook for in-store pick up this morning (though the online site was shipping them again). Not my favorite Steelbook cover by a long shot (it's pretty boring and only the movie title is embossed), but I'm still glad I was able to snag a copy. When I made it into the store this evening, there weren't any left.

Not available for store pickup either.

I wonder if Best Buy will replenish their stock and list the steelbook for sale online or for store pickup later this week?

I am not going to pay $80 at Elame and you can't rent it at Netflix "Extremely Long Wait" and all this for a movie that supposedly is mediocre?

Re: Thor: The Dark World - 2/25/14

Dropped by Best Buy today and all the steelbooks were completely sold out.

They only had 1 copy left of the 3D BD, BD, Digital Copy

They had a bunch of the regular 2D BD release

Are the extras any different between those 2 releases?

Nope, identical....right down to the missing DVD. Which I find funny since the steelbook has hubs to hold 3 discs.

My Amazon copy is sitting at home but I'm stuck at work. I want to see the Marvel One Shot, damn it!

Man, Disney sure cheaped out on this release. No BD+DVD Combo, no BD+DC (except for the 3D), no slip cover for the BD, but they sure are asking enough for it. With nothing special about this release (don't care about 3D), I'll just wait until it makes its rounds before I buy this, I'm not paying that much for just a single disc release, and I'm not in that big of a hurry to own this. What is up with Disney lately?

And they raised the price of a child admission to Disney parks to $99. Because they're assholes.

Re: Thor: The Dark World - 2/25/14

Had the single disc blu-ray in hand yesterday but feared that I was going to get screwed out of features by not getting the 3D version. I put it back since the signal inside the store was shit and I couldn't search on my phone to make sure the features were the same on both versions of the blu-ray.

I know, I chuckled at that as well. Must have been a last minute decision. I know when it was first listed on Amazon, it was listed as a combo pack for both 3D and 2D editions. Hopefully this isn't a new trend.

I picked mine up last night after ordering it first thing in morning. All the steelbooks were gone from display also when I got there after work. There were hardly any 3D versions left.

Just glad I ordered when I did.

Re: Thor: The Dark World - 2/25/14

Before heading home last night, I checked the availability of the 3D version and found it had sold out at all my nearby stores. I expected that with the steelbook but not the regular 3D. I ended up finding one (only one) at a Best Buy closer to work.

"All Hail The King" is fun and Kingsley is a hoot. The revelations should quiet the fans were were upset over the Mandarin in IM3.

"All Hail The King" is a perfect example of why the Marvel movies are so popular. It's just fun!

Great news because it is literally the only reason I ordered this BD from Amazon.

Cool thanks. I was originally going to get the 2 disc with the 3D, which I have no use for, but I thought I would check here.

The packaging was a little difficult to tell. These 1-disc, 2-disc with 3D are very hard to tell sometimes. I know some movies cough Wolverine, Prometheus include more extras on the 3D release.

The 3D release was $5 more than the 2D on Amazon, and you got the digital copy and slipcover. I think that's a reasonable deal for $5.

Re: Thor: The Dark World - 2/25/14

Having gone to both Target and BB today, I was stunned to see this movie's blu pretty much sold out at both locations - forget the exclusive packages, they were even sold out of the regular versions in one day. That's pretty nuts these days, right? It's like people are buying way more than they did 2-3 years ago, but stores aren't stocking like sales have increased.
